Episode one in the books and it was basically more story line than action but looks to be a good season.  I will not spill any beans but if you follow the Spartacus legend the three leaders (Spartacus, Crixus & Oenomaus) in their own separate way bring about the slave uprising and bring the fight to the Romans.  What did everyone else think?

I love the first season.  Unfortunately, the actor had rested in peace.

I just watched the first episode of the new season and thought it was pretty good.

It sucks so much that Andy died though. The entire first season was just a build up to the slave rebellion and I thought they did a great job of that. Unfortunately with Andy's death a lot of that is lost.

To me it just felt like the character Spartacus left and some new character was introduced that just happened to have the same name.

I found it pretty funny to see Illithyia lusting after Spartacus.

I really hope Glaber ends up finding out about them having sex.

Also any thoughts on the father of Ilithyia's baby. It's got to be Spartacus, right? That would just be too perfect.

I look at this as soft-core porn and the first season was very good. The 2nd season was rather weak and the sword play was without effect. This series has become like AMC The Walking Dead, more zombies less talking! More T/A and more inventive ways to swashbuckle.!

Gonna be hard to get used to the new actor. Season 1 was the bomb though.

Starz.com is showing the first new episode of season 2 for free if you haven't seen it yet, link below

The first episode of the new season was good.. Not sure if the actor playing Spartacus was the right choice.  It seemed like Andy was a better actor and maybe they got this guy cause he resembles him a bit... This guy seems to be smaller, not as built... Maybe it's cause its the first episode of the new season with a replaced actor and will take time to get used to... The show is great, love the ladies in this show, damn they are sexy... Hope its a good season

Thought the new episode was ok. I really enjoyed the first season. Going to be hard to adjust to the new Spartacus for sure.

RIP Andy

I completely agree.  This season has been pretty damn weak so far compared to the others.

New actors/actresses playing old characters really takes away from all the buildup that went into the first season.  Crixus’s reunion with Naevia should have been very powerful but because there is a new actress playing her it had a “whatever" feel to it.

Also the storylines have gotten pretty dull.  In addition to Spartacus’s storyline being much more boring than in the first season there is also no Batiatus (IMO, the most interesting character).  So instead of Batiatus’s quest for power storyline we have Illithyia trying to get a new husband storyline.

The chick is Lucy Pinder.

Here she is topless:

Ganticus is back though that was a unique twist.  While I agree that this season isn't as good as the first two I still love the skeeming and constant Roman politicing.

The last episode was the first one this season that I thought was pretty good.

Andy's Spartacus was my favorite gladiator, but with him gone my favorite would have to be Ganticus so hopefully

I wouldn't call it a unique twist though since

Well that last post got fucked up. Anyway I was saying hopefully adding Gannicus to the cast will give the show a much needed boost.

Also I wouldn't consider that to be a unique twist because Gannicus was one of Spartacus's leaders in real life so to anyway familiar with the history of the slave rebellion it was obvious he was coming back.

Well I guess if that is the case you are correct.  It has been a while since I brushed up on my slave rebellion as related to Roman history but I always thought it was just the three leaders... Spartacus, Crixus & Oenomaus I didn't know that Gannicus was involved.

Yeah that's the problem with historic shows like Spartacus and Rome... you alreadly know how it's going to end. It's still fun to see how the characters reach that end though.

Random thought: I found it interesting how during the last episode we were made to cheer for terrorists who were blowing up innocent civilians.

Haha... remember terrorism is really just a matter of prospective.  While to the Romans they were terrorists and to the slaves they were "freedom fighters."

That's true. Still it was just weird to see the show's "heroes" intentionally blow up thousands of innocent civilians.

SS what did you think of the finale?  Kinda anti-climatic don't you think?  I expected more to the dealth of Glaber.  I didn't see the bat $hit crazy ending with Lucrecia!

The show is still watchable but its nowhere near as good as the first two seasons.

I thought the finale was decent. Once Lucrecia started offing the slaves/servants I was pretty sure where that was heading.

Yeah, the Glaber death scene could have certainly been better. Spartacus has spent pretty much the entire series trying to get revenge on this man and when he finally did it left me with a "so that's it" feeling.

I have no idea what they are going to do next season considering they killed off almost all the good characters/actors.

Also what the hell happened to Crixus? He went from being one of the two best fighters on the show to a weakling that was getting his behind kicked in just about every fight scene.

Interesting point.  Perhaps it is the fact that he no longer has the burning to prove anything to anyone especially since he has his chick back but interesting point I never thought about that.

Well you know what is going to happen as they are following the historical accounts pretty close.  Crixus will get his a$$ kicked some more by Roman Legions but Spartacus will kick some Roman Legion a$$ until they corner him and he dies in battle.  But it will still be interesting to see it play itself out.

At one point the slave army was 90,000 strong.  Of course the Roman army is 500,000 strong but still amazing.
