Benny Hill Show - That guy was really special and I'm glad we got to see this late at night on American TV in the late 70's.

like Doctor Who, another outstanding British import. so popular that Boots Randolph's Yakety Sax is pretty much known as "Benny Hill Music" ref: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gpc5_3B5xdk&feature=related

you also couldn't run Benny Hill in our current "politically correct" society without major editing. just his character "The Major" (who served decades in India and is now retired in Brighton) would have every race sensitive group up in arms BIG time.

Picked up THE WIRE complete series a few months ago and slowly worked through it.  Hands down, the best tv show I have ever watched.

Tough to say best three shows ever with so many different genres(drama, cartoons, comedy, sitcom, etc), and so many years of tv behind us, so gonna throw out a few in different genres and time periods....

My favs on television right now:

- Breaking Bad
- Boardwalk Empire
- Walking Dead
- Sparticus
- Sunny in Philly
- South Park

Old old school:

- Sanford and Son
- I Love Lucy
- All in the Family

Comedies/sitcoms:

- Arrested Development
- Seinfeld
- Curb Your Enthusism
- Sunny in Philly(been on a downward slide since s3 though)
- Tosh.0(just got into this, hooked)
- Cheers
- Freaks and Geeks

Dramas:

- Buffy the Vampire Slayer
- Angel
- The Wire
- The Sopranos
- Breaking Bad

Cartoons:

- South Park
- South Park
- South Park
- South Park
- Family Guy
- Beavis and Butthead

I'm sure I missed a shitload, but some of my fav shows off the top of my head.
