A freak to win the crown? Secretariat wasn't a freak until the Belmont. We don't know what this horse would have done.
They did show close ups of the leg. The injury is legit.

JAY..can't argue with you about NY rules. I am a horse owner and we race in NY (not regularly, but I am licensed there), as well as 4 or 5 other states. NY regs are the toughest by far and one reason is that they really discourage out of state folks with mid-range horses ($65k-$125 runners) from coming in unless it's a well known trainer with excellent stock.
That said, there seems to be something more to this. I hope I am wrong, but with O'Neill, "if it looks like a duck, and walks like a duck...."
