No idea why Berto is favoured. I think people are NUTS to bet this fight. Both have questionable heart, stamina, courage you name it!

If I were to bet, I would take Ortiz BUT I would advise ALL covers members do not part with your hard earned dollars on this fight..

I have played the draw @+2500. I think I will get a good run for a +2500 bet..

I'm betting Berto, and large. I had Ortiz in the first fight: http://www.covers.com/postingforum/post01/showmessage.aspx?spt=39&sub=101035253

The thing about the first match was I knew we would get the best Ortiz we had seen up to that point. He moved up from 140, which was killing him. He was able to get as large as his frame allows. He was also coming off that huge letdown "draw" with Peterson, even though I thought he clearly won.

In the first fight, I was shocked at how aggressive and strong Ortiz was. I feel Berto was surprised too. Even though Ortiz won that fight, I remember feeling Berto was much faster and boxing better too. Ortiz was seconds from being stopped until the huge double left hooks sent Berto down when he came in recklessly.

Obviously both guys can crack and it would shock me if they both took the punishment they did in the first fight to go the distance. To be honest, the "fight won't go" prop is probably the best option on the board. However, I don't think we'll EVER see Ortiz approach the magic he had the night of the first fight.

I feel a solid win from Berto sets up a nice trilogy between these two fighters. I'm perfectly OK with that, because it is rare two young fighters this good meet up three times this early in their careers.

Mack, why do you think we can question Berto's heart?

And while I agree that he may have shown some stamina issues in the past, I think that hiring Conte will take care of that.

I think this time Ortiz is looking to get paid (only, no real desire besides money), and just because he still remains physically superior, either his over-confidence or his lack on focus might lead to a loss. This is one of the few times I actually will watch the media and try to see the mind-set of the fighters. Berto took a physical beating, but proved to me he had more heart than I originally thought. I don't think working with strength & conditioning trainer Conte in the short time so far will help Berto in a major way. I believe this fight does serve to his new strength trainer. Ortiz is a quitter, and if Berto is able to keep on the gas and increase his strength just slightly, I feel Ortiz might easily have no problem quitting a 3rd time!
