I know the reality- That doesn't mean i have to accept it.Most NFL players do not smoke(during the season). They are tested regularly- If they puff it is during the offseason- And although it may be hard for you to believe, plenty of guys don't smoke weed. |

Yes i realize they can get it anyways but being legal would increase the amount of immature, irresponsible people smoking it.
No smoking it doesn't make you a "thug" but do you really think any of the eilite, competitive, athletes smoke that garbage? No they don't. Wait until you are retired. I mean why do these young athletes keep potentially messing up their lives with this stuff? Is getting high that important? I work on a deepwater rig 150 miles offshore and we are tested on a regular basis. My "job" and healthy salary are much more important than "getting high".
In my opinion those that put getting high before their jobs or families are thugs, punks, and losers.
I'm no high class athlete, but the only time I ever scored 50 points in a basketball game (church league) I was high as garbage. I also had the best baseball game of my life when I was high. I personally drive better and am a nicer person when I'm high. You should stop sterotyping all weed smokers |

So you think marijuana is a performance enhancer?
I'm not stereotyping all weed smokers. I am saying that people who value getting "high" over possible job termination are immature and irresponsible. Most likely if they don't value their job that much then they are probably the same types of people who drive while impaired. Much like Dre and his friend were doing when they were pulled over. |

#57 Posted: 1/26/2012 2:07:21 PM I guess it would have been better if Dre and his buddie were riding around chugging tequila. Give me a break. Athletes like pot because there is no hangover. The season was over, he won the National Championship and you tea party animals will be chugging your Pabst Blue Ribbons while this guy is making millions in the NFL. It should be legal.... |

No I don't think it is an enhancer at all, I just feel that it affects some people differently.
Yes, valuing weed over a job is very stupid, and I never really understand why people drive around with large amounts of weed. Just pay alittle extra and have your dealer drop it off at your house and don't smoke while driving. If you do this, the chance of weed affecting your life is below like 1%.
I'm not here to try and change the world, because it really doesn't matter if weed becomes legal or not, I'm always going to enjoy it responsible and not let it affect my life negatively. It is so far beyond hypocritical that alcohol is promoted, and weed is frowned up. Be safe people |

That's a post i can agree with- I can't enjoy it responsibly because of my job. Yes they are kids as I once was but my main problem was them driving around while high. That isn't cool if it's weed, alcohol, or any other substance. |

Not doubting you, but I know when I played basketball high I couldn't hit garbage. Of course basketball was my weakest sport.

The bigger question is why is it illegal in the first place. The answer is the same reason Vitamin B-17 is illegal - it competes with Big Pharma's profits. Anything that heals will be frowned upon.

Haha. When I smoke, I tend to get in a 'zone.' It just makes me more focused and kind of clears my head of distractions around me.
I would also like to point out I've been smoking for almost 10 years and have never even once considered doing any hard drugs of any kind. I laugh at the whole 'gateway drug' theory. |

Goog point (Even if someone here drives like Michael Schummacher when they get high or plays basketball like Michael Jordan) Thats not debatable.
Least problem=you cant enjoy it RESPONSIBLY because of your job. But not only because of your job. Because of government, pharmaceutics & alcohol companies, but very much seems because of the stereotypes & the way you are prejudiced against this subject |

#66 Posted: 1/29/2012 11:29:18 AM I'm not saying some people can't enjoy it resonsibly- I can't risk my job by smoking it. My job involves keeping a rig with 200 people living on it from blowing up. Anyone who works offshore and choses to get high is acting irresponsibly.I woud say the same with other professions as well. I agree with the government and pharmaceutical company issues. This original post wasn't about that.
Jwheels-
I personally know 3 former NFL players and one current player and they all like to smoke a little weed from time to time. One does other things as well. NONE of them do it during the season period. More random test are given during the season than during the offseason. It may not be true for all players but i can assure you that most wait until the offseason to really play around with recreational drugs. Except those that have prescriptions for painkillers. That is a different story all together. |
