I am sorry, but it is common sense that repeatedly smashing your head against a wall is going to be detrimental to your health. There is absolutely no way these guys didnt know it. And even if they did know they would gone on and played anyway. Look at today's players. Even when they have concussion like symptoms, they dont tell anyone and stay in the game. They love the glory, fame, and money.

I am sorry 80% of retired players are bankrupt 2 years after they leave the nfl. You should have saved your money and planned ahead. Take some responsibility for yourself.

Ya why spread the NFL's wealth around to guys that actually played the game? Goodell needs to make his $10,000,000+ yearly for all of his hard work.

the sad reality is that it is billionaires against millionaires and goodell works for the billionaires and is paid by the billionaires. the players union needs to be stronger and more vocal, but the billionaires can hold out longer than the players who don't manage their fiscal responsibilities and have a limited shelf live.

i would love to see owners throw in 1% of revenue and the players 1% of salary for a medical pool for the old timers WITHOUT the use of the court system. this wont happen and more $$$ will be spent on litigation and nothing on healthcare for these guys...

I have to agree with you on this one. It not is/was not so simple as they knew what was in store for them with the older guys. Concussions weren't thought of as a problem. You got your "bell rung!" It wasn't like a knee or ankle getting fucked up. A headache wasn't considered an injury in those days. The game was different and more hits. You had coaches and other players telling them to get back in there or lose your spot. Plus these guys were not making the millions upon millions today's players are.
