#6 Posted: 5/13/2012 2:53:31 AM Don I dont get it... If we could go in a time machine and buy the car then american made cars would make sense... I knew more then one person including myself that owned a mid 1990s ford taurus... worst car ever
I thought this was going to be an Obama thread crediting him with saving the auto industry with bail out money

depends what model Ford you bought...........Ford only holds the top 10 spot with 65% of parts being MADE in the USA with the Taurus and Mustang. The F-series trucks only contain 60%.
I am all for buying American but one must read the labels to know what the ingredients are.

So many people blindly act on what they think they believe in. It could be said that alot of people voted for/against obama with out any real clue of what they were voting for

i thought we were supposed to be doing our part to go green? Hows that E15 obama gas treat these old blocks?

i was doing some timeline reading on his quotes and his opinions on the matter,,,prior to becoming president, then as president, and now being able to reflect on how it all panned out. It's eery now, he takes zero culpability as to the "problems" that resulted from granting China Most favoured nation trade status. It was all done for the greater good, those reeling in this depression are merely collateral damage.

Hey Mrs. Spelling Bee, it's Reagan not Regan, so leave other posters alone about spelling and punc.We all make mistakes
Look, Americans have been buying more and more foreign cars since 1970, thereby putting a hurting on American made.. You can blame poor quality all you want, but it's not true. I have posted an example of a woman that put 557,000 miles on a 1964 Ford product with the same engine and transmission.
The main problem that foreign car companies were not held to the same standards. Foreign car recalls were covered up until 3 years ago when Toyota and Honda were forced to annouce all recalls.
Secondly, repulsicans reduced fair trade import tariffs.
So don't blame job loss on Clinton, blame the American buyer, and repulsicans. And don't blame unions, they make a good product.. |

You're darn right the buyer is partially at fault, even today. Look at the Lexus (Toyota), Infinity (Nissan ),Acura, (Honda) Audi, (Volkswagon) BMW buyers.. They are all fashion statement cars.
It doesn't have a thing to do with quality. Do you know how you can tell ??? THEY ALL DEPRECIATE ! Because it's a freaking piece of metal.
Example of American made...
I have been a fleet manager for many years, and I can tell you of our fleet of American made Ford vans, (4.9 engine, in line 6 cyc)..that had over 330,000 miles each. We used them to travel throughout the southeast. Of course we serviced them regularly. When I sold 7 of them, they still brought a good price. They were built in America !!!!!
So go right ahead and drive your Kia Sephia, while your fellow American veteran looks for a job. Oh, if you have never served, don't let your conscience bother you. |
