LOL, I was definitely not wrong and did not google weight loss. I know what basil metabolic rate is and what the purpose of it is. I told the OP to google it so he could do the research and learn something.

Basil metabolic rate is not 10x your body weight so you may want to go and look it up.

A person his size takes well over 3000 calories to maintain their weight.

That being the case you do not cut you caloric intake in half when you go on a diet. Would like me to explain why that is?

1500 calories a day for a 5 foot tall girl is not starving. For someone that is 6ft 2in and weighs over 300 pounds, yes it practically is. You clearly do not understand anything about weight loss, metabolism, or any goddamn thing related to fitness and nutrition. Do yourself a favor and don't ever contradict me it comes to the subject.

I said your bmr was roughly 10x your weight. Its a good estimator. His would actually be 2500ish...

1500 is a diet? wow, thats about what I intake normally,(  i dont eat breakfast), unfortunaltey I eat a lot of carbs and fried (fatty) foods...

Congrats so far on the weight you have lost. If you continue to eat 1500 calories a day your weight loss will soon slow down or stop because when the body goes into starvation mode your metabolism will slow down and your body will store everything you eat as fat. Its not the amount of calories you eat its the type of calories you eat which is more important. Eating a low carb diet is the easiest way to lose weight because it reduces the amount of insulin in your body. Insulin is a fat storing hormone which is released when carbohydrates are consumed. To reduce the amount of fat stored in your fat cells you must reduce the amount of ingested carbohydrates. This in turn reduces the amount of circulating glucose and resting insulin levels which then reduces the amount of glucose and glycerol 3-phosphate in the cells. Once insulin levels fall to normal by way of limiting the amount of carbohydrates consumed, the triglycerides are then broken down to fatty acid form so it can leave the fat cell and continue on into the blood stream to be used for fuel. This is the reason why people can consume many more calories on a low cabohydrate diet and still continue to lose weight.

Thanks for the advice SharpAction, maybe I will mix in an "Atkins" day for you.  Haven't updated the thread in awhile, and doing good, feeling great.  I'd say 6 days a week, I'm on the 1,500 calories a day, and usually I make a mistake for the 7th day.  Weighed in this AM at 272lbs.  So that's a 34lb loss in 3 months and a week.

Congrats.  1500/day at your size is gonna be tough to keep up.  I'd have said to start at more like 2,000.  That's more sustainable.

i don't think this is a sharpaction approved method.  why not just eat what your body needs according to your training regimen rather than some arbitrary number of calories.  i hate to rain on the parade in ehre but this diet gets a big for me.
