#29 Posted: 8/4/2012 10:38:00 AM The level of competition in the womens game is weak right now. And honestly most of Serenas career it has been down. Davenport- Clijsters -Henin have all left the game for kids and or retirement through the past 10 years. And these were a few of the players who posed a threat to Serena.
Also when comparing eras you need to compare technology. The rackets and strings used now are leaps ahead of the 80's. Todays rackets and strings allow more power without losing a ton of feel...also the sweet spots are much bigger than the counterparts. Also physical fitness as a whole has improved. Players have better weight regiments and take better supplements to increase muscle and cardio fitness.
Personally I think Graf is the better player. The level of player she competed against was superior and its hard to argue against her record.
Serena is the most talented physically.... but abusing 2nd rate opponents isn't that impressive...how quickly people forget about the Razzano match
