#1 Posted: 10/1/2010 12:09:06 PM I went with my girlfriend yesterday to help her pick out a new TV at Best Buy and when I went to pick up some HDMI cables for her I noticed all Best Buy had were the Monster Cables which were $79.99 or $129.99, for the gold plated. She was ready to purchase them but I told her that was a rip off and could probably find them elsewhere for a reasonable price. I mean it is an HDMI cable so how can one be so much better than the other? So does anybody know a good website or store to get HDMI cables? |

#2 Posted: 10/1/2010 1:36:52 PM your exactly right, one brand is no better than the next. Here is a good site where you can find everything your looking for. Just pick the lenght you need. Also, check out ebay. I think I got two 15ft cables for like 10 bucks with shipping

#3 Posted: 10/1/2010 6:04:12 PM yuice is right, great site. If you can't wait, they are probably 25-30 bucks at Walmart. Also, the company that provides your HD (Comcast, Direct TV, etc...) should give you one free cable that goes with their HD Box.

#4 Posted: 10/1/2010 8:04:53 PM HDMI cables are a 'standard' which means that everyone of them are exactly the same from manufacturer to manufacturer. The difference in price may be due to cable length, a 4 foot cable should cost less than an 8 foot cable. I don't know if there is any difference between a gold plated connector vs another connector, one that you can distinguish visually or audibly. The other factor that needs to be factored in is advertising/marketing. In my opinion Bose makes an average speaker and their price is way over inflated but they get their price because they market their products exceptionally well. I have rocket fish HDMI cables and I have no complaints and I think I paid less than $30 per cable.

#6 Posted: 10/5/2010 9:51:21 PM Good move dperr............Chilitokid is right on about Bose products. They've been doing that for years (making crap & hyping the hell out of it) & the public bought into it. Monster just followed in their footsteps, although, unlike Bose, Monster actually makes a quality product. Their cables are good......look real nice. But performance-wise you'll see no difference between Monster & something that costs $10-$15 from monoprice or Blue Jeans cable. Monster is not even the worst offender.......not by far. Look at stuff from Kimber, Cardas, Morrow, Audience........these companies found out there are a lot of suckers out there with money to burn.

#7 Posted: 10/6/2010 6:26:51 AM I bought HD cables off of EBay for like $6. You can't go wrong with EBay, anything you get in the stores you can find there for less. That is if you can wait the 6 or 7 days for S/H |
