#1 Posted: 4/3/2012 2:38:50 PM Isn’t it good to watch a full-length film featuring your favorite casino game? Whether you play in land-based or online casinos, these movies would surely inspire you and appreciate the game even more. Cincinnati Kid Starring Steve McQueen, this film revolves around Eric, also known as the “KID” whose ultimate dream is to be the best poker player in town. Yet his journey to fame and fortune was not an easy one. His skills were put into the test when he finally met Howard, the “MAN,” a renowned poker player recognized for his master techniques and strategies. Torn between the dream of becoming the best poker player and a whirlwind romance, the Cincinnati Kid is a must-watch film of every poker aficionados.
Casino Royale Espionage is not the only thing that will remind you of James Bond. Well what do you expect? The beloved spy is also known for its thrilling casino adventures, most especially in this film. This action-packed movie brings you a different level of poker fun and excitement.
California Split California Split tells the friendship between Bill Denny and Charlie Waters. A friendship quickly developed because of their interest in gambling. As the two made their way to Reno, Bill and Charles had their lucky streak in blackjack, roulette and craps giving them $82,000.
Rounders Forced by their large debts, Mike McDermott and Lester Murphy badly need fast cash. The two ended up joining underground yet high stake poker games. The film ended with Mike joining the World Series of Poker Main Event.
Oceans 11 Really, this star-studded cast has nothing to do with any casino game. Instead, this is all about a plan to rob three (3) big casinos: Bellagio, The Mirage and MGM Grand. While popular casino games such as baccarat and slots are not featured in the film, seeing George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Matt Damon and Andy Garcia together in one movie is enough to attract a legion of moviegoers and casino enthusiasts.
21 If you need a blackjack tutorial that works, watch 21. 21 is based on a true story by the MIT Blackjack team. The team was comprised by former students of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard Business School and Harvard University. The film shows how the team beat the casinos via using exceptional card counting techniques and other known blackjack techniques.
These films clearly present a real-life articulation of the excitement of the casino world. If you want to take some time off of your gaming activity, why don’t you sit back, relax and enjoy these movies instead?

#4 Posted: 8/3/2012 9:25:48 PM Cincinnati Kid:
Edward G. Robinson to young Steve McQueen... (Old poker pro to young card shark)
Lancey Howard: "Gets down to what it's all about, doesn't it? Making the wrong move at the right time"
Cincinnati Kid: "Is that what it's all about?"
Lancey Howard: "Like life, I guess. You're good, kid, but as long as I'm around you're second best. You might as well learn to live with it"

#6 Posted: 8/13/2012 10:11:19 PM If you consider the Ames pool hall in Chicago a casino....then The Hustler with Paul Newman, Jackie Gleason and George C Scott is a must see.
Rounders is a classic as well.

#11 Posted: 8/21/2012 1:50:09 PM Casino doesn't count, it's a mob movie and one of the few gambling scenes shown was total BS. Pesci throwing face cards back at the dealer? Come the darn on. It was a hollywood interpretation of the mobs role in Vegas.
Rounders is the closest I see to an actual "real" plausible life of a gambler, though it is also a bit much at times. Bookies is worth a watch 21, not bad. |

#15 Posted: 1/8/2013 7:30:53 PM I can't believe no one has said "The Gambler" with James Caan.
Also I enjoyed "Fever Pitch" With Ryan O'Neal.
Now that I think about it "The only game in town" This one can be a little slow and only a true gambler might enjoy it.
Also "The big town" Matt Dillon- I liked this one, but no one can beat the dice.

#20 Posted: 1/25/2013 12:46:49 PM A new one that I would recommend not to watch would be Lay the Favorite. Good cast, bad movie. I would say why but if someone was wanting to watch it I don't want to give it away.

It doesn't count The whole fricken movie is about running a Casino The mob aspect was actually based on facts, back in the day most casinos were ran by mob elements.
