Oscar's a sellout? Not sure under what pretense you feel he is.
He was the only boxer in 1992 to win a Gold Medal for the U.S.A.
He didn't duck any fighters during his career, generated the most money ever as a boxer and founded Golden Boy Promotions.
Oscar revived and did the most to keep the sport exciting and going. One reason the Mexican people would boo early in his career was after being interview Oscar stated he was a Mexican American. He had the WBO lightweight title but he was fighting for the IBF lightweight title against the Mexican born Rafael Ruelas. Hispanic Los Angeles had chosen sides; white collar loved De La Hoya; blue collar loved Rafael Ruelas. The Mexican Las Vegas crowd cheered for Ruelas.
