tell me why you like Ohio St over Miami...Do you think Urban Meyer will make a statement. Ohio St has done surprisingly well as a home favorite the last 2 years...treadwell is a good coach ahd Dysert seems to be good by MAC standards...Ohio St D should be really good. Will Braxton Miller be able to put points on the board. I have the spread at Ohio St -28...Your thoughts...

Comparing his team at Ohio State with his first year at Florida:
Zook had amassed a very good talent base at UF, but his coaching left a lot to be desired. When Meyer stepped in, he was trying to incorporate his spread-style offense with a pro-style returning QB in Chris Leake. Tebow didn't arrive until 2006 so he couldn't fully implement his offensive style because Leake was passer 1st, 2nd and 3rd. This Ohio State team is much closer, talent-wise, to what Meyer wants to do offensively than UF was in 2005 and Meyer won the BCSNC the following year. Braxton Miller had a very good season at QB with over 700 yards rushing and 1150 yards passing and 20 total TDs. I expect his offense to put up some good numbers immediately.
As far as defense goes, Ohio State returns 9 starters on defense that saw an uncharacteristic 21ppg allow in 2011. They only returned 4 starters on the defensive side of the ball LY, and when you couple that with the offensive struggles (318ppg on O) with Pryor exiting the program, it put a lot of pressure on them. They should be back to a 12-14 ppg D in 2012.

of all your picks, I really like UCF and Ohio St...what do you think the opening spread will be for those two games...I'm think -18 for UCF and -24 for Ohio St...your thoughts?

There isn't much about like or disliking for my picks.
I have everything laid out with several criteria. I drop every matchup into my spreadsheets and it'll give me anywhere from 8-12 games per week. I'm betting them all across the board with the same on each.
This year, I'm probably going with 4 or 5 units per game with my goal being around +8 to 10 units per week and +56 to +70 units for the season.

Love Bama/OSU/UCF- got some great defenses there that in all 3 cases very easily could hold there opponents under 14. I follow the big ten teams very close and Michigan will have a very difficult time scoring with there offense (yes Robinson can break one but i do not see how they sustain drives because lets be realistic here much like my team(nebraska) Michigan does not have a good enough qb throwing the ball if they get in a hole. I live right in Columbus ohio and OSU as much as it pains me to say it will have a good yr. Still question marks on the same thing as robinson/taylor martinez- unreal athleticism but can he really throw the ball. Its the OSU def that makes me love this one and Miller can rely on out classing Miami, he won't be relied apron to beat them with his arm. Akron with a horrid def last yr and losing there top def player coming up against a very athletic UCF team who returns there backs and line mainly should be able to run at will and snag a few turnovers to create a short field and they could pitch a shutout. The question here would be can they get to 30 and in my opinion thats a def yes.
Like Vtech- again you got an experienced QB back and a solid defense and GT as good as there offense can be will have a garbage defense and Bud Foster having the whole off season to prepare will def help.
Not to keen on SCAR, I think Vandy is on the rise and keeps this game ugly and close.
No real opinion on Ball St/Duke/NCST (to many things you have to assume on the side of Tenn for me)
Looking forward to the season and ready to start the contest Vegas good luck.

Just locked in Ohio State -22.5. I agree that B Miller is athletic but does have a questionable arm. I expect these two a days NFL style practices accompanied with the acquisition of Urban Meyer to be beneficial for Braxton as he becomes a more talented, polished QB... Especially week 1 at home
