#26 Posted: 12/30/2011 6:12:54 PM This is a tough game to cap with all the variables-injuries,suspensions,coaching question marks...but I will say this, it is "snowbird" season down here in the Valley of the Sun, and Sun Devil Stadium will be packed with Iowa fans...trust me, I own a bar nearby and have lived here for over a decade and this will basically be a home game for Hawkeyes, and I think that will make the difference in looking at the spread...even w/o Coker, I would lean towards Iowa plus anything 14 or more...also, weather is a ridiculous, unseasonably warm 72 right now,and will drop down to low 60's at gametime, possibly dipping into high 50's w zero wind...GLTA |

#29 Posted: 12/30/2011 7:01:46 PM Im taking iowa money line though i won't play it nearly as big now that they don't have coker. it's a shot but i think they can actually win this game, not to mention ou has a ton of key injuries and suspensions also. |

#30 Posted: 12/30/2011 7:26:26 PM Iowa will get the first score of the game , which will boost their confidence ! This will result in the Sooners playing catch up ...... which means that the Cover will be nowhere in sight, they will just be trying to win the game !!!!
Iowa plus the chalk ! You heard it here FIRST !!!!!!!!! |

#33 Posted: 12/30/2011 7:41:47 PM Programs like Oklahoma are never "decimated" with injuries. They are deep at every position. If Landry was out it would be a different story. Iowa on the other hand lost a great RB in Adam Robinson last year and an even better RB in Coker today. Sources are saying Oklahoma is ready to play and save face in this one. Expect a blowout. |

#36 Posted: 12/30/2011 8:58:26 PM I am just basing this on stats on the past few games.
Iowa depends on McCoker to run the ball. In win or losses McCoker was pretty much their only RB with attempts (the other guy had like 1 attempt each game). With him being suspended, who are they expecting to pick up his slack?
Landry Jones has been anything but spectacular. Which one shows up tonight? I am thinking the later season one who has been throwing INT. His favorite target is out. Lot's of skill players are out.
In terms of talent, OU has the advantage and with McCoker out, I expect Iowa QB to throw a bit more and that's not a good thing seeing Iowa QB is not that great.. Iowa run game is less of a threat for OU so maybe they will have more in defenders in coverage or blitzing.
OU had high hopes in the middle of the season but that was quickly decimated with losses and injuries. What do they have to play for? Do they even care for this game?
I want to side with Iowa because of all OU injuries and the lack of defense they play. Then I see that McCoker is out. I am putting my money on on Iowa's QB Vandenberg? and I don't even know what the back up Iowa RB can do because he doesn't get any carries...
I want to side with OU but there is too many injuries. Then I think L. Jones can carry they team but I remember his last 3 games and see that he is just as bad as Vandenberg.
At the end of the day I will side with OU for the reason they are a better team and that MAYBE Landry Jones won't have to lead this team on his arm. OU has RB Finch, Williams, and Bell. They should be fresh and running a lot. Iowa has very few strengths over OU.
Also this game could go under if Landry Jones and Vandenberg plays bad.

#37 Posted: 12/30/2011 9:05:52 PM I'm sticking by my iowa money line bet. Iowa wants to be in this bowl. For oklahoma it's a horrible disappointment. Against common opponent texas tech iowa raped them, and oklahoma lost outright, to a horrible texas tech team. I think iowa wins this game outright in a thriller, iowa 28, oklahoma 27. |
