I want to re-image my machine.  I've backed up my stuff to a Seagate external drive.  

Questions:  when I restore my iPhoto library, do I copy and paste it from the external drive into Finder>iPhoto library (into the same location the library is now)?  This seems to easy.

Can I drag and drop it into iPhoto somewhere?  I doubt this will work.

Do I use the import function in iPhoto and just import the entire library?  I'm afraid I'll lose my Events if I do this.
