#1 Posted: 12/7/2011 3:41:18 PM Awesome article
I try to target most if not all these areas mentioned, it is tough to do because of cost but what it shows me is how much the private sector is killing the consumer in the name of profits and margins.

The potatoes make sense tho. That never even crossed my mind but they are very absorptive.
Lot of people do have reactions to apples and peaches tho cuz the herbicides. |

#6 Posted: 12/13/2011 3:58:27 PM I almost never touch microwave popcorn. I rarely eat beef. I never eat farmed salmon (or shrimp or any fish for that matter).
I do eat farmed apples and too many regular potatoes. Don't drink much milk, but I could do better there. I do use canned tomatoes in soups and such, but I make my own spag. sauce with jarred products.
Not too bad. Only really need to worry about 3 out of 7. Looks like I need to go organic on the apples and taters.
Nice article, wall. It would cost $200 a week for me to eat perfectly. But you can certainly make pretty large improvements if you're just smart about it. You wonder why girls have monster tits by age 13 these days. It's all the crap in the food we eat (hormones and other chemicals). |

#7 Posted: 12/13/2011 4:55:57 PM many, many people have yards big enough to plant dwarf apple trees. Not only are they great for you, but growing them is an educational experience for the young. |

What makes you think that?
A better solution is to target what has the most pesticides, the most which are genetically modified and what makes the most sense price wise.
Check out generic pots next time you go to the grocery store, for sure they are GMO and I will spend the extra bit buying pots that arent sterilized, I also try to buy bananas and apples that are organic.
If I can try to smart shop and get organic then I for sure try to do so. |

#19 Posted: 3/5/2012 6:33:12 PM Not here to argue with anyone. I went to school for nutrition. I graduated about a year ago so things may have changed but I took many classes where we looked at journal articles that go through many peer reviews and there is very little proof that organic is better or more healthy than non organic. Unfortunately not much research/data has been collected to determine one way or another. One thing to keep in mind is where the info. comes from. This is an article from prevention magazine. They may or may not have a hidden agenda. Not saying they do, I don't have time to research that mag, but my point is with nutrition take everything with a grain of salt. Be critical of everything you read (not cynical) and come to your own educated conclusion. If you feel more comfortable and are ok paying a little more for foods that are organic then by all means do what you want. I see no problem with that. So I wouldn't say organic foods are a hoax but to my knowledge there isn't much credible research that supports it.
