Originally turned down his role that won the Oscar because he thought the writing was to dirty. John Ford stepped in and told the director, Peter B., to tone it down. 6.Died visiting his mother at a nursing home, where he also lived. GL, Doc

(like me) I thought I made it tough and would have to give better clues later. I was gonna say something like "Cybil Shepard was on a diving board but never got wet." If I hadn't said supporting actor would you have got it? I thought I'd made it to hard but not nearly hard enough for you. Congrats, Doc
