Simply put, Federer's play up to this point has been underwhelming and confusing at times. He was sluggish in the first four rounds against average opposition, fortunate to get past Del Potro(acknowledging his opponent's loss of mobility as the match progressed during his press conference) and simply hasn't looked capable of taking out a top tier player. I just can't trust him enough to back him here with his often errant backhand and suspect play. Even though Djokovic isn't near last year's incredible level, he's a mental rock and has shown a knack for clutch play. His serve needs to improve but it's the overall consistency in his game that I favour here and that's my reason for backing him. Federer will have spurts of great play in between too many lulls, Djokovic to get his chance at history in the finals.
