I'm joining a big money head to head league on CBS sportsline.
This is a points total league so you don't have to win the majority of categories, just have more points at the end of the week.

I'm conflicted on whether I should draft mostly hitters early like Cano, Pedroia and Bautista and get decent pitchers like Romero, Scherzer and Tim Hudson later.

Or should I load up on Aces like Verlander, Sabathia and Weaver and get guys like Mark Reynolds, Jimmy Rollins and Neil Walker for my infield.

I love a strong infield because those positions aren't very deep. However, they say that head to head leagues are more about pitching. Was hoping to get some feedback from guys who've played head to head before.

Thanks in advance

Fantasy leagues are won or lost with late round jems and waiver claims, the 1st 5 or so picks are no brainers. When drafting releif pitchers with the exception of top closers look for pitchers that might make the rotation later in the season, getting starter points out the bullpen is huge, maybe Villlanueva(Tor) or Cashner(Cubs) might join the rotation later in the season  or Moseley(SD) might qualify as a releiver as well, these are guys you take with your last few picks or pick up on waivers. A few seasons ago I ran way with my fantasy league with Jason Vargas and Kris Medlin joining the rotation and putting up big points.

some of your answer depends on your scoring system.  i'm in the same type of league, and one of the ways to get an advantage in our league is by having SP that have RP eligiblility as well.  but again, that depends on your scoring system.
