I just recently had to take my computer in and get fixed, he wiped out the entire thing and installed windows xp pro and thats it. How do i get everything updated, i cant hear any sound on my computer and when i try playing something on windows media player i get a message saying "cannot play file because there is a problem with your sound device may not be installed blah blah blah" I also try going to tools then windows update and it says page cannot be displayed, i type in windows xp.com on yahoo and same thing, wont let me go to xp website?

If you know what kind of sound card you have, go to their site and download the drivers and install them. If not, bring it back to the shop and tell them to do that.

Take it back and throw it back on the counter. If they formatted it then they should put all the drivers back on it.
Did you have a XP restore disk or did they use thier bootleg. I mean thier XP restore disk ?

Still, take it back to them. That's pretty slack to give it back to without any sound. Didn't they even test it?
