#7 Posted: 8/8/2012 3:16:28 PM In the Middleweight division (16-2-0) Benson Smooth
Henderson Silva takes on Frankie The Answer Edgar (14-2-1) for the UFC
Lightweight Championship. These to battled for 25 minutes back in
February with Bendo taking a razor thin decision to become the champ.
These fighters proved again that there cardio is off the charts and
their styles make for a great fight. Henderson has been on a tear since
joining the UFC beating a who’s who of fighters including Jim Miller,
Clay Guida and Mark Bocek before beating the former champ. These
fighters are very even in the standup and wrestling department; I’ll
give Bendo the submission game (he’s also got rubber arms) but Edgar the
heart. Edgar has been rocked so many times but has never been finished.
Edgar has to avoid the big shot early, he fights so well in the later
rounds so imagine if he got to the there without being rocked, he would
be a machine. I think he will fight a smarter fight, avoid the one
mistake that has hurt him in the past and come the later rounds he will
dominate the champ. So I’m going with Frankie Edgar to defeat Benson Henderson by decision. |

#8 Posted: 8/8/2012 3:18:00 PM n the Lightweight division (18-4-0) Donald Cowboy Cerrone squares
off with Melvin The Young Assassin Guillard (30-10-2-1). This fight has
Fight of the night written all over it. Both men say they want to stand
up and just let bombs fly. Cerrone has good standup but I don’t
recommend anybody standing with Melvin. It’s obvious that Cerrone has a
huge advantage on the ground so my advice would be don’t play with fire
and get this fight to the mat. Melvin has showed in the past that he
cannot hang with superior grapplers on the ground with 9 of his 10
losses coming by submission. Cerrone needs this win because he took a
beating from Nate Diaz in a fight that was not even close. Melvin has
lost 2 of his last 3 knocking him down the title shot ladder and I don’t
think this fight will help him get back up. Cerrone is too smart to
keep this fight standing, once he feels Melvin’s power he will get this
fight to the ground and shortly after that it’s a wrap. So I’m going
with Donald Cerrone to defeat Melvin Guillard by submission. |

#9 Posted: 8/8/2012 3:18:21 PM In the Welterweight division (27-6-0) Jake Shields
meets Ed Short Fuse herman (20-8-0). Herman has been on a tear since
returning from injury stopping his last 3 opponents Clifford Starks Kyle
Noke and Tim Creuder. On the other side there’s Shields who, in my
opinion has had a disappointing UFC career so far. He holds a 2-2 record
which could easily be 1-3 or even 0-4. He has fought very steep
competition including GSP Martin Kampman and Jake Ellenberger but a lot
of people expected better from the Former Strikeforce champ. The only
way I see Shields winning any fight is by submission because the lack of
power but don’t see him submitting Herman. Both fighters hold a black
belt in BJJ and both fighters are very experienced. I give the advantage
on the feet to Short Fuse. Shields will have a hard time taking Herman
down, Herman will capitalize on this and continue to pepper Shields with
shots until he cannot stand. So I’m going with Ed Herman to defeat Jake Shields by TKO. |

#10 Posted: 8/8/2012 3:18:35 PM In the Middleweight division (26-7-0) Yushin Thunder
Okami takes on Buddy Roberts (12-2). Roberts is coming off 6 straight
victories including a win over the KOTC heavyweight champ Tony Lopez and
dominating Caio Magalhaes in his UFC debut. Okami desperately needs a
win after losing his last 2 fights. He dominated Tim Boetsch for 2
rounds but was knocked out in the third. This will be a lot closer than
people think. Roberts looked really good in his last fight dominating
with his good standup. Both these fighters are very strong but Okami has
the wrestling advantage. He’s good at working in the clinch and is a
nightmare if he’s on top. I think Greg Jackson will have Roberts ready
to sprawl and brawl and I will not be surprised if Roberts finishes this
fight. Okami has been knocked out twice in a row, that will be in the
back of his mind the whole fight. I think Roberts is strong enough to
keep this fight standing and I see him winning on points so I’m going
with Buddy Roberts to defeat Yushin Okami by decision. |

#11 Posted: 8/8/2012 3:18:49 PM In the Lightweight division (4-0-0) Justin The American
Kid Lawrence battles Max Blessed Holloway (5-1) both these fighters are
coming off impressive victories. Holloway dominated Pat Schilling
taking all 3 rounds easily and Lawrence put John Cofer to sleep with a
nasty head kick in the third round. Lawrence is a good wrestler with
evolving stand up. Holloway holds a huge advantage on the feet and
showed great takedown defense in his last fight. If Lawrence cannot take
this fight to the mat it should be a long night for the Blackhouse
product. Holloway will use his kicks and his speed to dominate this
fight so I’m going with Max Holloway to defeat Justin Lawrence by unanimous decision. |

#15 Posted: 8/8/2012 6:04:28 PM buddy roberts appears to hit hard, i wouldn't be surprised if he knocks out yushin aswell. yushin is in another class and is chalky for good reason...i think the over 2.5 rds is a great bet for this fight. |
