Well said. I think the same but then realize the audience so I realize he probably has to do it that way. |

#8 Posted: 8/8/2012 10:01:20 AM He definitely thinks he's smarter than anyone else. He's got the small man's disease to an extent. He does know his stuff IMO, but he wants you to know that he knows he knows his stuff. |

#9 Posted: 8/8/2012 10:46:34 AM Costas is an annoying runt. He has no interest in just reporting the sports aspect of the olympics.....just controversy and cultural issues.
As for Costas being smart....he is not curing cancer or splitting atoms...he is reading a teleprompter. If reading a teleprompter is so difficult how come Bryant Gumbel can do it? |

#10 Posted: 8/8/2012 12:08:02 PM Sportscasters are worse than professional athletes when it comes down to knowing when to hang'em up. Why do the networks continue to renew contracts for these guys when they know it's time to move on? It's like having a 50 year old barmaid serve you drinks. Who wants that?... Nobody.

#11 Posted: 8/8/2012 1:31:06 PM Goose... truer words might have never been spoken! You are so correct. Al Michaels is another one that can be added to the list. In my opinion he is such a mook. You cannot tell me that there are much better, straving, willing to do anything young broadcasters that are much better than the likes of:
Joe Buck, Al Michaels, Bob Costas, Mike Tirico, Chris Berman, Skip Bayless, Mike Patrick, and Steven A. Smith!
What is more annoying too is how all broadcasters seem to drowl over Costas. I never understood the fuss. He is okay. I would choose him over everyone else in the above list but not before many, many, many, many others. |

#12 Posted: 8/8/2012 2:37:01 PM One thing i can say positively about Costas is that he RARELY makes a speaking error. he doesn't "um", stutter, mispronounce, or pause. practically ever. His initial rundown of what is coming up on the olympics in prime time is pretty impressive. I understand that this is his job and all of them should be able to do it perfectly since they do it so often. but he's basically the only one that flawlessly gets through his material, every time. |

two errors in the first 30 seconds. seems someone ( probably an intern ) was writing the lines on the teleprompter. |

#18 Posted: 8/8/2012 7:54:07 PM Not a fan of Bob Costas. Not a fan. His voice is a little bit likable but the WAY he says things is despicable. Not a fan.

#20 Posted: 8/8/2012 9:03:37 PM Mike Jackson for espn pro football needs to hang it up.
We know Mike, we know.....the team that can run the ball has a great chance of winning tonight. The same friggin analysis for every game over the last ten seasons.
Come up to Montana, I will buy you a few beers and we can talk about your playing day.....hell I'll even take you fishing, but put the microphone down.

#21 Posted: 8/9/2012 2:32:13 AM costas has always been a douche...hated him as a kid back in the '80s...how does anyone not like al michaels?...almost made madden tolerable...brent musberger? jim nance is smooth too...would rather listen to michael irvin than mike torico trying harder than the gumbels to be white...vin scully is older and better than all of them imo. |
