Wassup gang, I was talking to a friend today who is over-weight and out of shape. I did'nt say anything about how he had let himself go but it did'nt take long before he made a comment which basically told me that he was'nt happy w/ it either. We talked about 2 friends from HS Rick & Pam, neither of these ppl drank alot but both of them did'nt eat healthy foods on a daily basis. Rick was fat but not morbidly obese but after being in that condition over half of his life he found out he had cirrhosis of the liver because of the fatty tissue on his liver. Because of this problem his liver would leak fluid into his abdomen which made him feel like he was always carrying around a waterbed. The damage to his liver can't be fixed and he will eventually need a liver transplant but for now he is on a very strict low calorie, zero salt, diet and has to get IV protein and paracentesis taps (they stick these spinal needles into your belly and then insert a plastic covered needle which is about a footlong (no worries they only go in about 3-5 centimeters) and that is a tube when they pull out the needle which drains out the 3-10 liters of fluid. I won't even mention the edema that has built up on his legs because of the fluid buildup. Pam was always a big girl and about a yr ago she had the gastro-bypass WLS surgery done. She definitely is dropping the pounds but she has to take protien powder and vitamins every day, eating 8 two ounce meals each day, and if she ever eats sugar she will get violently sick. She did lose alot of weight but she also has all of this loose skin which does'nt look good but getting it removed w/ plastic surgery will cost about $20k and all of the insurance plans out there don't cover this procedure so you gotta pay for it on your own.

My suggestion is the next time you eat some not healthy because "you want to", it may do you some good to remember those ppl out there who are forced to eat a healthy meal because "they have to"..

Just something for you all to think about...
