Shaun Kemp never played in college. Left before the seaon started I believe.
I'll go with The Fab 5, one of those loaded UNLV teams and that Kansas team with Raef Lafrentz and Paul Pierce and others. forget the year. |

#11 Posted: 3/29/2012 1:37:34 PM The easy answer: The university of Houston Cougars aka Phi Slamma Jamma
They made the Final Four 3 years in a row '82, '83, '84.
In 83 they were beaten by an unlikely NC State Wolfpack with a Buxxer beater by Lorenzo Charles. (remember Jimmy Valvano running around looking for someone to hug)
2 players from that team are NBA hall of famers and are on the Top 50 NBA list (Olajuwon and Drexler)
Most of the rest had NBA careers ranging from just ok to pretty decent.
Hakeem "Dream" Olajuwon (AKA Akeem "Jelly" Olajuwon)
Benny "Bomber from Bernice" Anders
Clyde "Glide" Drexler
Larry "Mr. Mean" Micheaux
Michael "Silent Assassin" Young
Alvin Franklin
Rob Williams
Reid Gettys
Ricky Winslow
Greg "Cadillac" Anderson
Dave Rose Co-Captain (1982-83) |

#14 Posted: 3/29/2012 4:45:34 PM I wouldn't argue with Phi Slamma Jamma.....
Kansas had a team in 97 that had:
Jacque Vaughn, Paul Pierce, Raef LaFrentz, Scot Pollard and Billy Thomas who all went on to play in the NBA.....pretty solid squad. |

#16 Posted: 3/29/2012 7:47:13 PM Don't forget 1974 Maryland with John Lucas, Len Elmore andTom McMillen which was the best team to never make the Tourney. They lost the ACC championship 103-100 to NC St and back then only the League Champion winner got in. TC |

I came in here to say '97 Kansas. Jerod Hasse was the 5th starter. I'm still not over that one.
Heinrich was a couple years away though.

Unlv won in 1990, then lost in the final 4 then next year with alot of the same core players, so you cant mention them....
Other notables that havent been mentioned: - love/westbrook ucla - wall/cousins/bledsoe wildcats ( too early to judge this class) - stackhouse/wallace tar heels - |

#24 Posted: 3/30/2012 4:16:05 PM I'll go with 1991 UNLV team that was undefeated heading into the tournament until they lost to Duke in semis after blowing them out by 30 in finals the year before.
Larry Johnson, Stacey Augmon, Anderson Hunt, Greg Anthony, Elmore Spencer and George Eackles. 4 No. 1 Draft Picks and a No. 2. (Hunt never got drafted because he came out too early).
