#257 Posted: 7/14/2012 12:02:12 PM HoH do you have the cojones to back your Swannies 40+?
Swans 40+ 1u @ $10
My grandfather, mum's dad, a staunch Yorkshireman ww2 war vet whom ended up in South Melbourne after the war, that unlike me never gambled or boozed, sadly passed away on Friday morning. I really hope his beloved Bloods honour him with a big win today.
It's been a pretty rough weekend for me and this week isn't going to get any better regardless of quality/quantity of wins or booze

R.I.P. to your grand-dad. My grandfather was also a WWII veteran. Was at Pearl Harbor for two years and he last day of enlistment was December 8, 1941. He ended up having a Zero pilot strafe his bunk while he was taking one boot off for a Sunday nap, the rounds ripping chunks out of the granite floor beneath him. He ended up lugging bullets up the barracks stairs to the riflemen shooting at the Zeros from the rooftops. You can see an actor play him in From Here to Eternity.
He then went on to Guadalcanal and New Caledonia. He was a platoon sergeant and was put in charge of a squad of Papau New Guineans who headhunted for him after their Anzac (Kiwi) sergeant was killed.
All this before 21 years old. Makes me feel like a lump.
Those guys were definitely the greatest generation.

#260 Posted: 7/14/2012 2:58:00 PM As for the Swans 40+, no way. Not against West Coast. Swans play tight games against the Eagles and the day they beat the Eagles by 40+ is the days the Eagles are in danger of folding as a club, imo. Hahaha...
Stay off that wager.

#263 Posted: 7/15/2012 12:26:02 AM Thanks for your kind words guys
Ye of little faith HoH. Get on the Swans -99.5 @ 200/1!!!!!
I think with the Eagles travel to Tassie, struggling with North this is a good spot for Swans to win big who have been piling on goals this season. I know they usually play nail biters but at 10/1 it's worth a shot.
Sydney Swans +5.5 3u @ 1.91

Nice hit on the $10 40+!!!! Wowowow! I was rooting for you in the last half of the final term!
I knew the Swans would win this fixture....had it circled three weeks ago, but not by 40+! Wow. Awesome! And now all the headlines are screaming the Swans are for real, you have to watch out for the Swans now, here come the Swans, etc., etc....
DUH!!!
Seems like all the headline writers and pundits are about 6 weeks behind in their thinking.

#269 Posted: 7/20/2012 1:41:05 AM Geelong really struggling, no firepower up forward without Pods. Essendon get Monfries and Crameri back I really like Essendon to win big tonight.

#273 Posted: 7/20/2012 3:19:32 PM as you know, I'm a Geelong man and very one-eyed...I have completely stopped betting them this year as quite frankly, I have absolutely no idea what their form actually is due to this changing game style they seem to play on a fortnightly basis. Last night was a brilliant display and they may be worth betting from now on in as I sense they will be almost even-money (slight underdogs) for most of their remaining 6 matches.
During the week I found out that the club has been training very hard the past month, it's not unusual for teams to go through an extremely fatiguing fitness schedule mid-year as we know Collingwood have done so with great success in Arizona alas the Cats 07-current. It's certainly no excuse for most of their performances this season but it does mean they will start games a little better and be able to run them out at a higher intensity so Cats really could make us some good from here on in.
Hope you don't me adding my views but I am going to have to go against you this time round as Hawthorn will be too good for Collingwood today. Gonna be a ripping match, Hawthorn have a very tough midfield with big bodies and I think they handle their own against Collingwood's which should just get them over the line by 3 or 4 goals.
Good luck

No, I didn't want to jinx them. Thought about it when they were at $18.00.
Besides, I have to use all my ju-ju on the Reds tonight and hopefully into the Grand Final.

#275 Posted: 7/21/2012 1:18:41 AM Bobby by all means add your input mate, it's why we're here, regardless if the opinion differs from mine it's always good to see it from someone else's perspective. Covers needs as much AFL contributors as possible!
HoH: haha yeah I was thinking about it but didn't wanna jinx em either, I bought Ablett in my fantasy team, he got injured, bought Murphy, he got injured, Bought Dangerfield, he dropped off in form. So I gave up on fantasy leagues...and been staying away from any futures bets.
Damn Hawks out to a 25 point lead will Collingwood
