#26 Posted: 6/8/2012 2:53:31 PM LV truck....mattbrot......clubdirt.........that's the life of being married with kids & it sounds like you guys are doing it "right".
I found out that being "selfish" has more to do with time than anything else. Time becomes a precious commodity to all concerned when married with children. You may not be doing much wrong in your own eyes but when wifey isn't happy you have to reevaluate your actions..........you may have to compromise even more than you originally imagined.

#29 Posted: 6/8/2012 3:17:03 PM My gal and I have been together for almost 9 years. We're not married and I think that actually is a help. Keeps you on your toes and it works both ways. But to each their own.
As for a divorce, I had a completely miserable childhood UNTIL my parents got divorced. They put the kids first 100% of the time and they approached it like adults (they never criticized the other....they never used the kids to get back at the other). It was handled in a very mature manner. My dad was a complete fool. He went to counseling and he became a different person. Best thing for our family. 4 of my siblings are married....first marriage for all and obviously still together. Every one of them has kids and they are for the most part terrific.
Divorce can be a solution if you have two mature people who put the kids first. |

#30 Posted: 6/8/2012 7:17:30 PM does your wife have many girl friends? Perfect solution would be get a babysitter and have her go for a walk or play tennis with her friends during the time you want to golf with yours. |

almost spit my coffee out reading that one
good thing we're not married
I spent the weekend out with the guys... took a lot of anger out on the golf course, hacked the garbage like crazy all day.
feel much better today, spent all day sunday with the family and everything was cool... i guess she gave up on being a total girl for a while
i think she's just had a rough couple weeks.
her 18 yr. old cousin shot herself about 2 weeks ago and its been real hard for her to deal with the loss.
so i'm just gonna say thats where all the B.S. stemmed from
"Time becomes a precious commodity" --- THEMUGG
this is pretty much it, she doesn't seem to understand why, when the free time comes up, that I don't want to spend every second with the girls and her... I try to tell her I need some time away to keep my cool and make myself a better person in return.

#34 Posted: 6/11/2012 11:38:15 PM no matter what be careful, women are vicious, several of my friends lives have been destroyed by wicked woman, TRO's, false abuse charges, losing houses they paid for, taking the kids away etc. if your relationship is over.... act first, get the TRO, etc dont EVER let her do it first. courts side with women so dont let her get the upper hand. Women will rob you and take everything they can when they have put in nothing. |

J.J. -- It is the kid thing and not the wife thing. When we did not have a kid than I more or less did whatever I wanted on the weekends when I wanted my "guy" time. However, once kids come along it becomes a little different.

Exactly -- if the situation did not include kids than I would 100% support the OP. A wife that girl about golf and/or fishing after a long busy week is being demanding. But again it becomes different when a family is involved.
My opinion anyways. And of course every situation is different.

Its easy when you live in moms basement or have a boyfriend. Try living with a women who isnt related to you for a few years and then report back. Until then, shut the darn up.

I never have to cook, unless I'm cooking for friends or partys, she not a very good cook, but the kids are cool with the basics. I never clean, or do laundry.. So for the most part I have it made. BUT, the trade off is this my free time is always spent with the family.
If I'm going out it's with my Wife or Kids.
I am able to go out for a couple of hours, after 10 pm, shoot dice, Cards, whatever, but if it's the weekend I have to be up at 9am, and I can't say I'm hungover.
For the most part I like hanging with my family. Sure it's a far cry from snorting bumps off strippers tits, but as we all know that garbage gets old, Or maybe I just did..

#50 Posted: 8/24/2012 4:58:59 PM I agree with matt, it isn't a women thing, it is a kid thing. My kids are getting older, so it is easier. I started golfing on the weekends at the crack of dawn and still could get back home by 10am and do family things the rest of the day. Seemed to help in the short term. Good luck. |
