My gf made me watch this movie about an autistic chick. True story and really pretty good.

Margin Call (2011)

recorded off EPIX May 7th and watched last night. the plot is loosely based on the actions of Lehman Brothers and Bear Stearns managements during the 2008 "mortgage meltdown".

it's VERY will acted by Kevin Spacey, Demi Moore, Paul Bettany (the murderous albino Opus Dei monk Silas in The Da Vinci Code), Jeremy Irons, Zachary Quinto (Spock in the 2009 Star Trek "prequel"), Simon Baker (Patrick Jane in the TV series The Mentalist) and Stanley Tucci.

it almost has a "stage play" feel to it and it's no slam bang "action movie" BUT I think it's worth watching. I would describe it as "a based on true events Glengarry Glen Ross". The New Yorker described the film as "easily the best Wall Street movie ever made". I wouldn't go THAT far, BUT it's pretty good and better than some of the hyped up sclock like Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.

it's on EPIX 2 again Sunday May 20th and throughout the week on the 21st, 23rd and 24th.

I would say

Unstoppable (2010)

thought it was a very good, IF somewhat different from the usual "shoot 'em up", action drama. pretty much non-stop action and good acting by Denzel Washington, Chris Pine (Captain Kirk in the 2009 Star Trek "prequel") and Rosario Dawson (Laura "The Light of Zartha" in Men In Black II). non-stop action without a lot of "filler" during it's 1 hour 40 min run time. the plot is based on a true CSX unmanned "run away" in 2001.

it's on MAX again Wednesday May 23rd and Friday may 25th

I would say

Margin Call was pretty good.

Saw Hostel 3 over the weekend.  It was a decent movie but nothing special.

7 out of 10

Thief 1981 Michael Mann flim starring James Caan.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=keET6waBJHk

Another good heist flick is the 1971 The Anderson Tapes with Sean Connery.

didn't really think Thief was one of Jimmy Caan's better movies although it IS interesting because it's former Chicago cop Dennis Farina's (Avi Denovitz the crooked jeweler in Snatch) and John Belushi's young brother Jim's  film debutes and the great Robert Prosky's 2nd movie ever. I actually thought it was kind of "slow"

Great ensemble cast and IMO the best movie Michael Mann has ever made and James Caan as Frank was at his finest in this role. Prosky was fanatstic as Leo too also liked him in John Carpenter's Christine. IMO Thief is simply one of the great lost classics of the past thirty years Movies today LRR are weak in comparison.

Bob Prosky as Darnell the auto salvage yard owner in Christine is one of his more famous movie roles BUT he's probably even more well known as Sgt. Stan Jablonski on the 1980's TV Cop drama Hill Street Blues. he replaced Michael Conrad's character Sgt. Phil Esterhaus (who always closed the opening muster scene with "and remember, let's be careful out there") when Conrad died unexpectedly after filming the 1984 season.

THAT was a GREAT TV show

The Dictator. Offensive and hilarious as all hell!

Super 8... reminded me of the Goonies, Excellent movie!

The Ides Of March... a George Clooney movie that was actually good. Political "suspense" type movie. Ryon Gosling was excellent in it. Good flick

Midnight in Paris...not really sure what to think about this movie? It was pretty good/a really clever idea. I am an Owen Wilson fan...but I thought it ended some what abruptly. But man, those Parisian chicks were sexy as hell

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 (2011)

finally watched last night on HBO. had the usual excellent CGI special effects and a decent story for the last of the series BUT I guess I must be getting "Harry Potter Pooped Out" because I thought that it was overly long and dragged in a lot of spots. seemed like I was sitting thru a "Hogwarts Gotterdammerung"

Paul (2011)

just happend to catch on HBO last night and it was a REALLY "stupid" funny "E-T trying to get home" style movie only this time E-T is a foulmouth smartass paired up with two English SciFi geeks exploring the American West in an RV. has some really funny sight gags and one liners and alludes to "E-T" (obviously), "Men in Black", and "Close Encounters". Bill Hader of SNL as Agent Haggard along with his geeky partner Agent O'Reilly are a scream.

it's on various HBO channels all thru next week and I think it's worth watching or recording

Saw the hirlarious Cold Turkey with person Van Dyke on TV last night. Watching the townspeople sweat out the thirty days without cigarettes is priceless. Very funny and highly recommended.
