Show me the "evidence" of cannabis causing cancer. Show it to me please. I'm begging you.

The wider impacts of smoking cannabis are well documented and include dependence on the drug, increased risk of motor vehicle accidents, cardiovascular disease and mental health problem.

This is more propaganda BMA. Do you understand what propaganda is? You surely don't deny it's existence do you? I showed you a perfect example of it in the first post. That idiot said that marijuana is as dangerous as any drug out there. Have you seen what crystal meth does to people? Crack cocaine? He may as well come out and said that alcohol is safer than water. Holy Christ!
The whole smoking issue is a mute argument as well because the user may take it in orally (brownies, cookies, etc) or through vapor.
Just one last comment. Cannabis consumed in it's raw form is one of the healthiest things on this planet. It's increases immune system functionality and allows every one of your 210 different types of cells in your body to perform their respective jobs more efficiently.

There is now lots of research showing that THC stops the human immune system working as well as it should.
Studies suggest that THC suppresses several cells in the immune system, including macrophages, natural killer cells and T cells.
Researchers are starting to understand more about how the components of cannabis smoke affect the immune system.

The British Medical Association says that crude cannabis is unsuitable for medical use because it contains toxic components that are harmful to human health. However, it would like to see more research into the potential for cannabis-based medicines to relieve pain.

So you have a lower risk if you smoke 20 cigarettes as opposed to one joint a day. That's awesome. Go ahead and believe that. Suck it all in BMA.
I could provide links all day saying there is no link between cannabis and cancer. And these are doctors as well. But the question is this:
If cannabis does cause cancer, why haven't we been able to produce one person as of yet that has contracted cancer from smoking cannabis alone? People have been smoking this stuff for thousands of years. There have been millions that smoked cannabis often and did not smoke cigarettes. Why haven't any of these people died of cancer?
What's more is why haven't we been able to take steps to use this plant in fighting cancer when it's been proven that it kills cells of skin cancer, colon cancer, lung cancer, testicular cancer, throat cancer, and virus induced leukemia in lab animals? Why haven't we moved forward with this research? Take one good guess BMA. I'll give you one clue: Pharmacuticals have 1,274 (give or take a few) lobbyists in Washington D.C.

Well... we're not going to agree. And personally I really think you listen to too much propaganda. This is so disgustingly clear by your post #27. Stop drinking the Kool Aid bro. They're sucking you in. Don't let them.
Have a good day. Stay away from the booze... it'll destroy you.

Marijuana is one of the safest substances known to man and the people controlling your thoughts are the people making billions from pharmacuticals, alcohol, and tobacco. People need to wake up to this. Believe me. They DO NOT WANT LEGALIZATION TO HAPPEN. And they have a lot of power and cash. Money talks, and in this case it says "we're not gonna let it happen."
There are approximately 50-75 million users in the U.S. I research this plant for several hours a day. It's something I enjoy doing. I listen to pros and cons. I want to know if there really are risks involved. In my research I have not seen one case where somebody is "wheezing" from use. I have seen one case where someone has "chronic coughing". I have not heard of this happening to anyone, and I do not know of anyone to which this has happened. And I know people that have smoked for 20+ years. They're all healthy and very happy.
It's going to be legalized and more people will see the truth.
It's important that people realize that truth is the authority, rather than authority being the truth. Only then will they be free.

Marijuana is highly dangerous. Everybody please stay away from it. It will give you cancer and make you cough all day. It's a horrible drug and it's evil and poisonous.
I hope this message gets out. Let's help spread the word BMA. We need more programs to help the victims of addiction. We need to raise awareness of this horrible drug.

By way of comparison, the same study suggests that smoking one pack of tobacco cigarettes (20 cigarettes) a day for one year increased the risk of lung cancer by 7 per cent. This suggests that smoking just one cannabis cigarette increases the risk of developing lung cancer by a similar amount as smoking 20 tobacco cigarettes. The study also concluded that 5 per cent of lung cancers in those aged 55 or under may be caused by smoking cannabis.

Gimme a fuckin' break.
Aren't you being just as bad as BMA, but the opposite? One of the safest substances out there? I'm not a doctor so I'm not going to pretend I know what I'm talking about and you can find studies that support both of your views, but to pretend it's a miracle drug is just silly. Anything that alters your brain function can't be as good as you think it is. I still don't think it should be illegal and eventually it won't be, but once it becomes legal it should be highly regulated.
How is it going to be handled in the workplace? You can test for alcohol quickly, but how can you test for marijuana consumption?

That's where it gets tricky. You can smoke and then test postitive days, even weeks later.
But you do bring up a good point. We can both find sources to back up our arguments. Some of them however, are propagandists. You don't believe everything you see on the news right? There are many rich powerful people that do not want legalization. And there are people that are professional liars to influence the public's opinions. This is no newsflash as it's been happening for I don't even know how long.
The fact is, cannabis is lightyears safer than alcohol, cigarettes, heroine, cocaine, meth, etc. This is common knowledge. And there are very credible sights to support this. The difference is propaganda. When you have a coroner saying that it's as dangerous as any drug out there, you have to know it's propaganda. Have you seen what crystal meth does to people? It's horific.
Doctors and researchers have been studying this plant for a long, long time. It's common knowledge that nobody has ever died from it. The drugs mentioned above have claimed millions of lives. They claim millions every year in fact. How many people do you know that have had ANY health complications as a result of smoking cannabis? I challenge you, or anyone, to find a person having any serious health complications as a direct result of cannabis only. I myself have never heard of it (aside from an anxiety attack here and there, and this is rare). We know that smoking cigarettes (grown with radioactive fertilizer) kills people. About 430,000 per year. Prescription drugs kills tens of thousands of people every year.
It's also considered by many to be relatively safe because you can't OD on it. This is a fact. You'd have to smoke about 15,000 joints in 15 minutes. Nobody really knows the exact figure, but some people have estimated. Nobody is ever going to do that.
As far as the workplace goes, that's a whole different conversation. I don't really consider that a big issue because people that need to operate heavey equipment value their jobs. They have families to feed. They are not going to get high as a kite before going to work. They know this could be dangerous. Almost anybody can get cannabis from a friend. The point is, it's everywhere, and you don't hear about people getting high in the workplace and chopping fingers off. I'm sure it's happened, but people are generally smarter and more responsible. For those who aren't... they're going to do stupid things whether it's legal or not. People do stupid things with alcohol every day.
One documentary (among many) that I highly recommend is The Union: The Business Behind Getting High. It might change the way you think. It's long, but very, very informative.
Nothing is completely safe, and that includes cannabis. But when you consider that tens of millions light up every day and the worst that happens is an anxiety attack here and there, I think it's pretty safe. I don't know of anyone that has had one in the 20+ years I've been smoking but I know they happen.
I've done a ton of research on this in the last six months, and I'm going to continue it. Joe Rogan put it best when he said the following...
"If you're a thinker and you look at the marijuana situation and you're not laughing... you're fuckin' dumb."
The fact that alcohol is celebrated and consumed almost like water and cannabis is illegal is an indication of how misinformed people are. Many know the truth, but too many do not. The next time you're at an event where many are consuming alcohol, watch and observe how some people behave. They're idiots. When people get high, they're just more civil. Nobody gets beat up. Nobody gets shot or stabbed. Hell nobody even gets yelled at. Hospital ER rooms are inundated with alcohol related incidents every weekend. And it's all alcohol. Ask any doctor about this. Alcohol is such a drain on society, and cannabis simply is not. Yet it's illegal. It's cool to drink. This is just what people do. And that's the problem. This will never change unfortunately. Alcohol is here to stay.

Evidence firmly shows that smoking tobacco causes lung cancer and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). People often mix cannabis with tobacco, particularly resin as it needs tobacco for the desired ‘slow burn’. This makes it difficult to isolate which health problems cannabis causes and which problems are caused by tobacco.
This gets better and better every time I look at this thread. I've been smoking cannabis for over 20 years and I've never known anyone to mix tobacco with the ganja. And I'm not saying it's never been done. I am saying that people don't do it "often". In fact I would venture to say that less than 1% of smokers do this. This is a cop out and nothing more. Let me say it again. MARIJUANA HAS NEVER GIVEN ANYONE LUNG CANCER. There is no record of it ever happening. I'm sure there's been thousands if not millions in the last 100 years that had smoked cannabis but not tobacco. If studies show so much "risk" involved, why hasn't it ever happened?
These are lies that's why.
BTW BMA... none of what you provided is evidence. It's all speculation by people claiming that there is risk. Find me a person that died due to long term cannabis use. You can't because it hasn't happened.

This is a short list of the things that marijuana can either cure, prevent, or help defeat. And I've seen lists longer than this.
So... yeah. Pharmacuticals DO NOT want this legalized. Would you want it if you were in pharmacutical sales making six figures? I doubt it. The thing is nobody knows this stuff. I told someone today that alcohol consumption alone kills 85,000 people a year and he couldn't believe it.
There is not one man made drug out there that can do as many things as cannabis can. A miracle drug? I don't know about all that, but it is pretty amazing.
bill702... the below documentary might blow your mind. At least tune in for 20 minutes or so and decide from there if you want to watch the rest.

lets all agree that cannabis is bad when smoked in a form of a cigarette. Its the worst thing you can do with a cannabis tree - make a cigarette.
There are gums, meals and even deserts and other stuff made from cannabis that are used as a medicine and with great results in healing various diseases.
Smoking the thing is the worst you can do with that beautiful plant.

I agree with you there skanless. Because I just keep rambling about something I know nothing about, and BMA is the authority. And he's provided undeniable proof that nobody should smoke cannabis because it's deadly and it leaves cities and its people in poverty and despair.
Do me a favor and stay out of my thread if you can't post something worth viewing.

The next time you tallk to a cannabis smoker ask him how long he's been smoking. And then ask him what kind of health problems he's experienced as a result of smoking it.
Talk to people and find out for yourself first hand. I'm going to start doing this as well, and I guarantee that the health problems will be minimal or completely absent in 100% of the people you talk to.

Dr. Donald Tashkin of UCLA explains why smoking marijuana DOES NOT increase the risk of cancer -- through 30+ years of research -- in the below documentary. He also states that, on the contrary, marijuana smokers have a slightly less chance of getting cancer than does the general public, and he explains how this is so.
