The wife and I loved it, she was a bit disturbed after the rape scene, as was I.   Wish she would have kept the leather jacket tho, that shizz was sweet! 9/10 for me.

Despite all of the hype surrounding the Stieg Larsson’s acclaimed thriller, the film failed to make its mark at the box office.

Film studio MGM confirmed its big budget adaptation starring Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara had performed ‘below expectations’, with a spokesman saying it had made a modest loss.

The film, released last year, is reported to have cost more than £55million to produce. Although it made £145million worldwide, it is not clear how much was spent on marketing and advertising, causing the loss.

The disappointing performance has even put the film’s expected sequels in doubt.

Neither MGM nor co-producers Sony Pictures has committed to making films of The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest, which complete Larsson’s trilogy.

It is expected the sequels will now happen only if their production budgets can be squeezed.
