but can you imagine if a greater percentage of people in this country denigrated this sacred institution by, say, getting divorced, cheating on their spouses, not paying for their children's needs, committing domestic violence or doing any other act that would seem to negatively affect the institution of marriage (although of course, not as negatively as two happy people getting married)? the sanctity of marriage quacks would be up in arms over this, i'm sure.

NC is not the strongest DEM state in the country, so what part of news are you asking about?
And are you saying that if someone is black and a DEM then they will always vote party lines?
What was the total percentages for that vote, Caucasian, African American, Hispanic etc? |

Yes, nationally. 96 percent of black voters supported Obama in 2008.
So yes, Black = Democrat I wasn't "generalizing" anything.

Frankly, I see lots of upside to happy marriage and zero downside. If this somehow ever affects me, my family or my friends in some negative way I'll consider opposition but right now there are more important things to worry about.
Also, the bible thumpers in North Carolina and elsewhere who oppose this should remember something......... at times there's TOO MUCH religion in the world. That's how you get suicide bombers. Too much religion.

Remember Clinton twenty years ago, about how he would trade sanction China into submission and that would equate to more human rights for the Chinese? two years into office, he is privileging China with Favoured Nation Status for trade with U.S, and we all know how that panned out,,,,,,,
