Getzlaf doubled the lead at 12:49 by scooping in a rebound and Perreault made it 3-0 with 30 seconds remaining in the opening period, converting a cross-slot feed from Patrick Maroon during a power play.

The Ducks cashed in on another man-advantage opportunity nine minutes into the second as defenseman Francois Beauchemin's shot from the left point deflected off Beleskey's leg and in for a goal that proved crucial. Benn tallied during a power play with 3:24 left in the session and Sceviour beat Andersen between the pads with a shot from the right faceoff circle 93 seconds later to halve the deficit before Seguin redirected defenseman Trevor Daley's pass with 6:07 to play in the third.
