Los Angeles grabbed an early lead on Nolan's sixth goal of the season. Defenseman Alec Martinez wristed a shot from the left point that was touched in the slot by Jarret Stoll and tipped again by Nolan at 3:36 of the first period.

Burns forged a tie at 7:15 of the second, beating Jones with a one-timer from above the left faceoff circle just four seconds into Kings captain Dustin Brown's roughing penalty. Couture put San Jose ahead at 12:13 as he picked up a loose puck behind the net and wrapped a backhander past Jones at the left post.
