Recap

Blues 2, Predators 1: Defenseman Ian Cole scored one goal and assisted on another as visiting St. Louis held off Nashville to improve to 16-0-1 against Central Division rivals.

Magnus Paajarvi netted the tiebreaking goal in the second period to lift the Blues to their third consecutive victory. Ryan Miller made 20 saves to improve to 3-0-0 since joining St. Louis, which maintained its two-point lead over Chicago atop the division.

Nick Spaling had the lone goal for the Predators, who lost their third in a row and have been limited to one goal in each defeat. Pekka Rinne turned aside 20 shots for Nashville, which has lost six of seven (1-4-2).

The Blues went ahead 4:03 into the contest when Steve Ott won a faceoff draw back to Cole, who lined up a wrister from the left boards to beat Rinne glove side. Nashville tied it just over six minutes later when Spaling tipped in Patric Hornqvist's pass from the right corner.

Paajarvi put St. Louis back in front with an end-to-end rush down the right side, blowing by Mike Fisher and cutting in before beating Rinne in tight just over eight minutes into the middle session. The Predators failed on all four power-play chances to fall to 0-for-14 during their three-game skid.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Cole halted an eight-game point drought and doubled his total from the previous 14 games. ... Fisher picked up an assist on Spaling's goal to extend his point streak to five games. ... Nashville RW Patrick Eaves, acquired in the deal that sent David Legwand to Detroit, played 12 shifts in his first game since Feb. 3.
