Recap

Bruins 6, Panthers 2: Milan Lucic scored twice and David Krejci collected a goal and two assists as host Boston jumped on former teammate Tim Thomas and netted six goals for the third straight game.

Captain Zdeno Chara recorded his fourth goal in three contests and Reilly Smith added his team-leading 18th to extend his point streak to seven games. Enforcer Shawn Thornton also tallied and Tuukka Rask turned aside 28 shots for the Bruins, who have outscored their opponents by a 21-8 margin during their four-game winning streak.

Boston peppered Thomas (35 saves) with a bevy of shots before drawing first blood at 7:41 of the first period. Krejci alertly poked the puck ahead to Jarome Iginla, whose wrist shot from the right faceoff circle was denied before Lucic tapped home the rebound. Chara doubled the advantage nearly eight minutes later as his hard shot deflected off the glove of Thomas - who was being screened by Lucic - before trickling into the net.

Lucic spotted a loose puck after defenseman Matt Barkowski's point shot and flipped it in at 1:46 of the second session to give Boston a 3-0 lead. Smith converted Carl Soderberg's sharp goal-mouth pass for a power-play goal over 13 minutes later.

Former Bruin Brad Boyes' one-timer from the left circle trimmed the deficit with 33 seconds left in the middle period and defenseman Dmitry Kulikov ended Florida's 0-for-43 power-play drought four minutes into the third. Rask held the fort from there to improve to 10-1-0 in his career versus the Panthers.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Smith has scored three goals and set up five others during his point stretch, but Boston LW Brad Marchand and C Patrice Bergeron saw their respective six-game streaks come to an end. Marchand had recorded seven goals and five assists during his run while Bergeron netted four tallies and set up six others. ... Prior to Kulikov's goal, Florida last scored on the power play in a 4-3 loss to Detroit on Dec. 28. ... Boston C Chris Kelly returned after a 22-game absence due to a fractured fibula.
