Stars 7, Maple Leafs 1: Rookie Valeri Nichushkin recorded his first career two-goal performance and added an assist as host Dallas snapped Toronto's season-high six-game winning streak.

Captain Jamie Benn scored his 100th career goal to go with three assists, Cody Eakin netted the go-ahead tally and Shawn Horcoff, Rich Peverley and defenseman Trevor Daley scored during a four-goal second-period blitz as the Stars won back-to-back games to improve to 3-8-1 this month. Kari Lehtonen made 24 saves and notched his third assist of the season while Tyler Seguin and defensemen Sergei Gonchar and Alex Goligoski each set up two goals.

Nikolai Kulemin scored the lone goal for the Maple Leafs, who were attempting to win seven in a row for the first time since 2003. Jonathan Bernier was yanked after allowing three goals on 13 shots, but replacement James Reimer was singed for three tallies on the first five shots he faced before finishing with 11 saves.

After Eakin put Dallas ahead to stay with a wrist shot with 4:13 left in the opening period, the Stars blew it open in the middle session with four goals in under nine minutes. Nichushkin deflected in Benn's point shot to end Bernier's night at 6:36 before Horcoff got behind the defense two minutes later and beat Reimer with a wrist shot during a power play.

Peverley made it 5-1 with a short-handed tally at the 11:37 mark before Daley buried a one-timer from the left faceoff circle with 4:37 left in the period. Benn had opened the scoring from the high slot just past the seven-minute mark, but Kulemin answered 30 seconds later, deflecting defenseman Carl Gunnarsson's shot from the point.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Eakin was knocked out of the game with an upper-body injury after Toronto RW Colton Orr hit him high with a shoulder. ... Maple Leafs RW Phil Kessel finished with a minus-4 rating and had his four-goal and seven-game point streaks snapped. ... Benn became the first player in franchise history to score his 100th goal before age 25.
