Wild 2, Blackhawks 1: Darcy Kuemper turned aside 33 shots and came within 32 seconds of his second career shutout as host Minnesota skated to its eighth win in 11 games.

Jason Pominville scored his team-leading 20th goal and Matt Cooke also tallied in the first period. Kyle Brodziak notched an assist for his 200th career point for the Wild, who saw Zach Parise return following a 14-game absence due to a foot injury.

Patrick Kane scored late in the third period to snap an 11-game goalless drought. Antti Raanta finished with 17 saves for the Blackhawks, who suffered their first regulation loss in seven outings (3-1-3).

After stopping all 23 shots in a 4-0 win over Nashville on Jan. 12, Kuemper was bidding to blank the defending Stanley Cup champions before Kane unleashed a blast from the right faceoff circle. The 23-year-old Kuemper held the fort the rest of the way as Minnesota defeated Chicago for the third time in four meetings.

The Wild rebounded from being shut out by Dallas on Tuesday, opening the scoring 8:08 into the second period as Pominville converted Mikael Granlund's cross-slot feed from the right doorstep. Cooke doubled the advantage nearly 7 1/2  minutes later as he chipped the puck between the pads of Raanta from deep in the left circle.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Chicago RW Marian Hossa saw his six-game point streak come to an end. Hossa recorded six goals and two assists in that stretch. .. Pominville has reached the 20-goal plateau in seven of his nine NHL seasons. ... Wild D Nate Prosser played in his 100th game.
