Recap

Blackhawks 4, Ducks 2: Marian Hossa scored twice as host Chicago fended off a late rally to end Anaheim's eight-game winning streak.

Kris Versteeg added a first-period goal and Bryan Bickell scored in the third for the Blackhawks, who improved to 17-3-7 at home. Defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson added a pair of assists while Corey Crawford turned aside 19 shots.

Captain Ryan Getzlaf and Kyle Palmieri had third-period tallies for the Ducks, who fell for just the second time in 20 games. Jonas Hiller made 31 saves but saw his personal 14-game winning streak come to an end.

Chicago dominated the shot count in the early going and was rewarded with the game's first goal, as Hossa broke in on a 2-on-1 with captain Jonathan Toews and beat Hiller low on the stick side with Andrew Shaw serving an interference penalty. The Blackhawks doubled the lead with 2:54 remaining in the period, as Versteeg jumped on a loose puck in front of the Anaheim crease and chopped a backhander just inside the right post.

Bickell beat the Anaheim defense and flicked a wrist shot that went in off Hiller to make it 3-0 just past the midway point of the third, but the Ducks stormed back to make a game of it. Getzlaf's 24th goal of the season ended Crawford's shutout bid at 13:47 and Palmieri made it a one-goal game 53 seconds later, but Hossa put a bow on things with an empty-net goal with 7.6 seconds remaining.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Hossa's short-handed goal was the 28th of his career, tying him with Los Angeles' Mike Richards and Tampa Bay's Martin St. Louis for the most among active players. ... Chicago defeated Anaheim for the first time in six meetings. ... Ducks RW Corey Perry had an assist on Getzlaf's goal, giving him 11 points (five goals, six assists) over his last seven games.
