Recap

Kings 1, Canucks 0: Captain Dustin Brown scored 24 seconds into the third period and Jonathan Quick posted his 27th career shutout as Los Angeles completed a 3-1-1 homestand.

Anze Kopitar and Jeff Carter each notched an assist for the Kings, who have outscored the Canucks 12-4 while winning all four meetings this season. Quick made 11 of his 28 saves in the third period to secure his second blanking of the campaign.

Eddie Lack turned aside 19 shots for the Canucks, who were seeking revenge against Brown for running over Roberto Luongo in their previous meeting Jan. 4 and causing his current lower-body injury. Vancouver has dropped six of its last seven overall (1-3-3) and has lost four meetings with the Kings in a campaign for the first time since 1990-91, when Los Angeles went 5-3-0 in the season series.

The game was scoreless after a volatile first period that resulted in more than 10 minutes of power-play time for Los Angeles and neither team was able to break through during a middle session that featured a pair of fights. The Kings finally solved Lack early in the third thanks to an odd-man rush.

Brown and Kopitar made a series of passes during a 3-on-1 before the latter lost control of the puck in the low slot. Brown alertly grabbed it and unleashed a backhand shot from the right side of the crease that beat Lack for his third goal in five contests.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Kings went 0-for-4 with the man advantage in the first period. Their 10:13 of power-play time in the session included a 5-on-3 that lasted 47 seconds. ... Kings C Mike Richards' goal-scoring drought reached 22 games after his apparent tally midway through the third period was disallowed due to his stick being above the crossbar when he tipped the puck into the net. ... Vancouver D Alex Edler logged 21:54 of ice time in his first game since suffering a knee injury Dec. 3.
