Jaden Schwartz had a goal and two assists for his first career three-point game and captain David Backes scored twice as host St. Louis rolled over Toronto.

Chris Stewart and Alexander Steen each scored and added an assist and Derek Roy also tallied for the Blues, who improved to 13-2-2 at home. Brian Elliott made 19 saves.

Nazem Kadri, Nikolai Kulemin and James van Riemsdyk replied for the Maple Leafs, who fell to 2-6-2 in their last 10 games. James Reimer allowed three goals on 15 shots before being replaced by Jonathan Bernier (18 saves) late in the first period.

Backes opened the scoring by finding space in the slot and firing a shot past Reimer 4:48 into the contest. Schwartz deposited his own rebound at 12:59, Roy increased the lead 3:11 later and Stewart made it 4-0 just 29 seconds into the second period.
