Blues 6, Maple Leafs 3:
Jaden Schwartz had a goal and two assists for his first career three-point game and captain David Backes scored twice as host St. Louis rolled over Toronto.

Chris Stewart and Alexander Steen each scored and added an assist and Derek Roy also tallied for the Blues, who improved to 13-2-2 at home. Brian Elliott made 19 saves.

Nazem Kadri, Nikolai Kulemin and James van Riemsdyk replied for the Maple Leafs, who fell to 2-6-2 in their last 10 games. James Reimer allowed three goals on 15 shots before being replaced by Jonathan Bernier (18 saves) late in the first period.

Backes opened the scoring by finding space in the slot and firing a shot past Reimer 4:48 into the contest. Schwartz deposited his own rebound at 12:59, Roy increased the lead 3:11 later and Stewart made it 4-0 just 29 seconds into the second period.

Kadri fired a wrist shot on a rush that fooled Elliott 1:16 after Stewart’s tally. Steen, who is a former first-round pick of the Maple Leafs, scored his 22nd of the season 7:04 into the third period with a wrist shot from the right faceoff circle that sailed over Bernier's blocker.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Kulemin and van Riemsdyk added goals 2:22 apart and Backes found the empty net with 30 seconds left to cap the scoring. … Schwartz has 12 points in his last 11 games, while Steen is two goals short of matching his career high. … Maple Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf served the final contest of his two-game suspension and will return to the lineup Saturday against Chicago. … St. Louis is 9-1-3 in its last 13 games against the Maple Leafs.
