Recap

Kings 6, Canadiens 0: Martin Jones made 31 saves for his second straight shutout in his third career start as visiting Los Angeles beat Montreal for the first time in more than 10 1/2 years.

Anze Kopitar, defenseman Alec Martinez and Tyler Toffoli each had a goal and an assist as the Kings notched their fourth consecutive victory and snapped the Canadiens' five-game winning streak. Jordan Nolan, defenseman Jake Muzzin and Justin Williams also scored and Mike Richards, Kyle Clifford and Jarret Stoll had two assists each to help Los Angeles secure a point in 15 of its last 16 games (11-1-4).

Carey Price surrendered four goals on 16 shots before he was replaced 5 1/2 minutes into the second period, ending his personal string of seven straight victories. Montreal had its 10-game points streak (9-0-1) halted in losing to the Kings for the first time in eight meetings dating to March 2003.

The Canadiens, whose last regulation defeat was a 1-0 shutout loss to the New York Rangers on Nov. 16, carried the play in the first period but Nolan converted a rebound at 7:03 before Kopitar buried a one-timer off a feed from Richards with 12.3 seconds left in the session. Montreal had 17 shots in the opening 20 minutes - one more than Jones faced in blanking the New York Islanders on Saturday night.

Martinez ignited the second-period eruption by cleaning up a rebound of Toffoli's shot at 1:45 before the latter did the same on a shot by Clifford just under four minutes later to end Price's night. Muzzin greeted Peter Budaj (12 saves) with a power-play tally at 8:14 and Williams connected on a backhanded with 1:32 left in the period.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Muzzin's goal snapped Los Angeles' 0-for-31 drought on the power play. The Kings were 0-for-30 with the man advantage in the previous eight games. ... Price made an early exit for the first time this season and his string of limiting opponents to two goals or fewer was snapped at 10 games. ... Despite getting outshot 17-12 in the opening 20 minutes, the Kings extended their streak of not allowing a first-period goal to 16 straight games.
