Recap

Red Wings 6, Bruins 1: Captain Henrik Zetterberg scored a goal and set up another 74 seconds later in a three-goal second period to spark host Detroit's romp.

Tomas Tatar, Gustav Nyquist and defenseman Niklas Kronwall each had a goal and an assist while Johan Franzen set up three scores as the Red Wings amassed a season-high goal total to win for only the second time in their last 11 home games (2-2-7). Justin Abdelkader and Drew Miller also scored and Jonas Gustavsson needed to make only 16 saves in improving to 6-0-1 on the season.

Jarome Iginla broke up Gustavsson's shutout bid with 2:35 to play for Boston, which fell to 8-2-1 in its last 11 games. Tuukka Rask made 22 saves in suffering his first regulation defeat in five starts.

Abdelkader scored the lone goal of the first period before the Red Wings blew it open in the middle session. Tatar stuffed a wraparound between Rask's skate and the post at the 6:05 mark before Zetterberg's snap shot from the left faceoff circle at 8:47 made it 3-0. Zetterberg then set up Kronwall for an easy one-timer with a circle-to-circle pass to extend it to 4-0.

Detroit continued to pile on in the third, when Miller was left alone on the doorstep and easily beat Rask before Nyquist capped the blitz with 2:53 remaining. Iginla averted the Bruins' second shutout of the season by converting a late rebound 18 seconds later.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Detroit signed D Jonathan Ericsson to a six-year contract extension worth a reported $25.5 million. Ericsson had a goal and four assists entering Monday's contest after missing 10 games with a shoulder injury. ... Detroit F Joakim Andersson had a pair of assists to halt a 10-game point drought. ... Red Wings leading goal-scorer Pavel Datsyuk sat out his second consecutive game with concussion-like symptoms and F Todd Bertuzzi (upper body) missed his third straight. Datsyuk, who was elbowed in the chin by Ottawa's Jared Cowen, already has been ruled out for Friday's game against the New York Islanders.
