Panthers 3, Canucks 2 (SO): Jonathan Huberdeau scored the only goal in the shootout to lift Florida to its first win in Vancouver since March 1994.

Brad Boyes scored on the power play and Shawn Matthias notched the tying goal in the third period as the Panthers won back-to-back games for the first time this season. Tim Thomas, in his first game in Vancouver since blanking the Canucks in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals in 2011, made 27 saves and denied all three shootout attempts to send Vancouver to its fifth straight defeat (0-3-2).

Chris Higgins and Jannik Hansen tallied for the Canucks, who last lost five in a row in January 2009. Roberto Luongo turned aside 34 shots to fall to 4-1-2 lifetime against Florida.

The Panthers' league-worst power play connected against Vancouver's top-ranked penalty-killing unit on the first opportunity when rookie Aleksander Barkov's backhander went off the post to a waiting Boyes, who buried the rebound with Luongo sprawled on his stomach at 3:43 of the first period.

A pair of former Panthers combined for the equalizer when Mike Santorelli's stuff attempt was stopped by Thomas before Higgins slid the rebound through a maze in front at 3:26 of the second. Hansen pounced on a giveaway by Tomas Fleischmann and drilled a wrister from the high slot past Thomas at 2:45 of the third, but Matthias knotted in just under six minutes later with a one-timer off a perfect pass from rookie Nick Bjugstad.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Boyes' goal, his third in the past four games, gave Florida a 1-0 lead for only the sixth time this season. ... Hansen, playing for the second time in nearly a month, scored his first goal in his last 10 games but teammates C Daniel Sedin and C Ryan Kesler saw their goalless droughts reach seven games. ... Barkov, the No. 2 overall pick in this year's draft, went to the locker room in the third period but returned to the ice in the waning minutes of regulation.
