Blackhawks 5, Coyotes 4 (SO): Rookie Brandon Pirri scored to forge a tie early in the third period before netting the decisive goal in the fourth round of the shootout as host Chicago skated to its fourth straight victory.

After captain Jonathan Toews scored in the first round and Phoenix's Radim Vrbata answered by banging a shot in off the post in the second, Pirri beat Mike Smith (48 saves) between the pads to give the Blackhawks the advantage. Mike Ribeiro needed to score to extend the contest, but his shot hit the post.

Marian Hossa celebrated the birth of his second daughter by scoring a goal and Brandon Saad and Patrick Sharp also tallied for Chicago, which unleashed 52 shots en route to improving to 7-0-1 in its last eight games. Patrick Kane notched a pair of assists to extend his point streak to five games and defensemen Brent Seabrook and Nick Leddy also set up a pair of goals.

Defenseman Michael Stone registered his first career two-goal game and captain Shane Doan netted his team-leading ninth tally and added an assist. Lauri Korpikoski also scored for the Coyotes, who have ventured past regulation in six of their last seven games.

Korpikoski cleaned up his own rebound to knot the contest at 3-3 with 5:05 remaining in the second period before Stone seized Phoenix's first lead 2:11 later as his shot from the point beat Corey Crawford (26 saves). Pirri evened it up again three minutes into the third after deflecting Seabrook's shot just as a power play expired.
