Wild 3, Hurricanes 2 (SO): Captain Mikko Koivu scored the decisive goal in the shootout as visiting Minnesota edged Carolina.
Jason Pominville recorded his 200th career goal and Justin Fontaine also tallied in regulation for the Wild, who extended their point streak to five games (4-0-1). Josh Harding turned aside 27 shots.
Defenseman Ryan Murphy and Jiri Tlusty scored while Justin Peters made 28 saves and notched an assist for the Hurricanes, who fell to 2-1-0 in the middle of their five-game homestand.
Zach Parise began the shootout by beating Peters following a backhand deke and, after Carolina's Riley Nash hit the post, Koivu buried a backhander for a 2-0 advantage. Chris Terry converted the Hurricanes' second opportunity, but Pominville sealed the win by ripping the puck past Peters.
Pominville gave Minnesota the lead 3:33 into the game with his 11th goal, but Murphy beat Harding with a wrist shot from above the right faceoff circle 80 seconds later to forge a tie. Carolina moved ahead on Tlusty's goal at 7:14 of the second before Fontaine redirected defenseman Marco Scandella's blast from the left point past Peters with 8:38 left in the session to even it at 2-2.
