Recap

Canadiens 4, Flyers 1: Brendan Gallagher, Lars Eller and captain Brian Gionta each had a goal and assist to power host Montreal to its first victory.

Carey Price turned aside 22 shots to beat Philadelphia for only the second time in his last nine starts and ensure the Canadiens would not lose their first two games for the first time in 13 years.

Rene Bourque added a power-play tally with 57 seconds remaining in the third period and Alex Galchenyuk collected a pair of assists for Montreal, which had lost five of its previous six games against the Flyers.

Vincent Lecavalier prevented a shutout with a power-play tally just before the midway point of the third period and Ray Emery made 30 saves in his season debut for Philadelphia.

Gionta's tally at 8:10 of the opening period was the only goal through the opening two periods but the red-hot Eller notched his third goal 12 seconds into the third, backhanding a rebound off the boards past Emery for a 2-0 edge. Gallagher extended the lead with the man-advantage at the five-minute mark, tapping in a pass from Galchenyuk moments after the Canadiens appeared to score when reigning Norris Trophy winner P.K. Subban's shot went through the side of the net.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The line of Eller, Galchenyuk, Gallagher has produced five goals and six assists in the opening two games. ...
