Bruins 4, Red Wings 1: Defenseman Torey Krug recorded his first career regular-season goal and added an assist as host Boston handed Detroit its first loss.

Brad Marchand and Jordan Caron scored in the second period before Krug set up captain Zdeno Chara for a power-play tally in the third. Milan Lucic notched a pair of assists and Tuukka Rask turned aside 25 shots for the Bruins, who snapped an 0-3-1 skid versus its Original Six rival.

Captain Henrik Zetterberg scored in his second straight contest and Jimmy Howard finished with 33 saves for the Red Wings, who were playing their third game in four nights.

After collecting four goals in his first five playoff games last spring, Krug opened the scoring 9:11 into the first period after his blast from the high slot beat Howard for a power-play tally. The defenseman, who was playing against his hometown team, added his second point with the man advantage at 12:17 of the third with a nifty pass to Chara at the doorstep.

Marchand gave Boston a 2-1 lead just 36 seconds into the second period after skating up the right wing before snapping a shot from the right faceoff dot that sailed inside the left post. Caron doubled the advantage just over seven minutes later after accepting Reilly Smith's backhanded feed in the slot before wiring a shot just inside the right post.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Zetterberg forged a tie with 3:11 remaining in the first period after cleaning up a juicy rebound from Rask's right-pad save on Justin Abdelkader. ... Marchand was felled at 3:30 of the second after absorbing an open-ice hit from Abdelkader. The pesky Nova Scotia native remained on the ice for several moments before retreating to the dressing room, but returned after missing just one shift. ... Smith, who received an assist on Caron's goal, got the better of his brother - Detroit D Brendan Smith - in their third meeting on NHL ice.
