Stars 5, Wild 3: Ray Whitney scored a goal and set up another while Jaromir Jagr recorded his 1,000th career assist as host Dallas snapped Minnesota’s seven-game winning streak.

Jamie Benn and Cody Eakin recorded a power-play goal and an assist apiece for the Stars, who have won four of their last six games and avenged a 7-4 home loss to the Wild on Monday. Erik Cole and Tomas Vincour also scored while Kari Lehtonen made 30 saves.

Devin Setoguchi, defenseman Jared Spurgeon and Torrey Mitchell tallied for Minnesota, which lost for the first time since March 12 and sits two points behind first-place Vancouver in the Northwest Division. Matt Hackett stopped 28 shots in his first NHL start since March 25, 2012.

Cole snapped a 2-2 tie just 62 seconds into the third period, collecting his own rebound in the slot and firing it past Hackett for his third goal in 13 games with Dallas. Benn scored with the man advantage just over a minute later after receiving a cross-slot feed from Whitney, and Eakin made it 5-2 at 12:40 as the Stars scored a season-high three power-play goals on six opportunities.

Dallas led 2-0 less than eight minutes into the game on goals by Whitney and Vincour. Setoguchi pulled the Wild within one late in the first period with his first goal in four games and Spurgeon tied it during a power play with 4:44 remaining in the second.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Whitney has collected nine points in his last eight games. … Minnesota G Niklas Backstrom stayed home to rest instead of traveling with the team to Dallas on a one-game road trip. Darcy Kuemper was recalled from the AHL’s Houston Aeros to back up Hackett. … Stars G Richard Bachman entered the game in the third period as Lehtonen needed some equipment repaired. Despite not facing a shot, Bachman was credited with the victory as he was in net when the game-winning goal was scored. … Jagr became the 12th player in NHL history to reach the 1,000-assist mark. The future Hall of Famer is eighth on the all-time list with 1,679 points.
