Recap

Jets 5, Maple Leafs 2: Former Toronto forwards Nik Antropov and Kyle Wellwood scored and assisted on each other’s goals to give host Winnipeg its third win in four games.

Antropov also had two assists, Blake Wheeler scored twice and Evander Kane added his 11th goal for the Jets, who received 24 saves from Ondrej Pavelec. Defenseman Dustin Byfuglien registered three assists.

Phil Kessel recorded both goals for Toronto, which is winless in three straight games for the first time in 2013. James Reimer, who allowed four goals on 28 shots in his home province, suffered his first regulation loss in eight starts.

Antropov opened the scoring on a first-period power play when Byfuglien’s point shot deflected off his leg and past Reimer. Wellwood made it 3-1 midway through the second after converting Byfuglien’s cross-crease feed.

Kane and Wheeler scored 1:37 apart in the third period, capitalizing on poor line changes by Toronto. Kane’s goal chased Reimer from the net and Ben Scrivens stopped five of six shots in relief.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Antropov and Wellwood began their respective NHL careers with the Maple Leafs and played a combined 698 games for Toronto. … Captains Dion Phaneuf and Andrew Ladd dropped the gloves in the first period after the former crashed into the end boards while tangled up with the latter on a rush.
