Capitals 6, Panthers 5 (OT):
Troy Brouwer scored the game-winner 32 seconds into overtime after captain Alex Ovechkin tied it late, giving visiting Washington back-to-back wins over Florida.

Mike Ribeiro had a goal and two assists and Ovechkin and Eric Fehr each enjoyed two-point nights as the Capitals won two straight for the first time this season.

Rookie Jonathan Huberdeau scored a pair of goals and Drew Shore added his first NHL tally and an assist for the Panthers. Tomas Fleischmann and Shawn Matthias also scored goals for Florida, which suffered a 5-0 loss at Washington on Saturday.

Brouwer got the puck alone on a breakaway in overtime and cut in from the right side before using a hesitation move to send Scott Clemmensen (23 saves) down to the ice. Brouwer shifted the puck and stuffed it just under Clemmensen’s outstretched right leg to end the game.

Florida defenseman Erik Gudbranson had his stick pulled away late in the third period and Washington took advantage, with Fehr skating in behind him and redirecting Mike Green’s pass between Clemmensen’s pads to cut it to 5-4 with 5:07 left. Huberdeau was called for a slashing penalty minutes later and the Capitals took advantage again, winning the draw back to Ovechkin for a quick wrist shot that beat Clemmensen high.
