Canucks 5, Flames 1: Jordan Schroeder scored his first two NHL goals while Alex Burrows and defenseman Kevin Bieksa each recorded a tally and an assist as host Vancouver cruised to its fifth consecutive victory.

Chris Higgins also tallied, Cory Schneider made 33 saves and Daniel and captain Henrik Sedin notched two assists apiece for the Canucks, who have scored four goals in each of their last two games after doing so just once in their first nine contests.

Lee Stempniak tallied and Leland Irving stopped 26 shots for Calgary, which has dropped five of its last six visits to Vancouver.

Stempniak flicked in a rebound from the doorstep late in the first period to open the scoring, but Burrows poked in a loose puck in the crease at 8:34 of the second to begin the Canucks' run of five unanswered goals. Schroeder redirected defenseman Alex Edler's pass past Irving during a power play 27 seconds later and Bieksa buried a blast from the blue line late in the session to make it 3-1.

Higgins beat Irving from the slot 78 seconds into the third and Schroeder capped the scoring by burying a rebound with 4:19 remaining.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Flames C Ben Street made his NHL debut, registering two shots and winning five of seven faceoffs in 12:24 of ice time. ...
